Due to the annoying problem when towing in the summer, I'm considering replacing the radiator over this winter .. or maybe at Guffers Meet .... :)
Now, car is a 51 plate 3.2 Auto with Air Con, engine code Y32SE.
So, carcooling.com seems to be reasonably priced for rads .. but which one ??

Down the bottom, and ignoring the very last entry, 2 entries are supposedly 3.2 rads, both the same size, same description .... but different reference numbers and different prices.
Also, if you click on the "details" logo ... both state they are for the "Y30SE" .. and both for 160KW engines .... they also quote the same range of OE part numbers for both !!

Personally I would go for the cheaper 3.2 option - used this company in the past & have been well satisfied :y

Sorry Nige, forgot all about it in all the shenanigans :-X ::)
The rad I mentioned is still available. It's for an earlier Auto (so has the ATF cooler inside) but that's probably what you'll get sent from that website too (I know I did, even though I specifically ordered one without it ::)) but that doesn't matter, you just don't connect anything onto those connections ;) :y

It's for an earlier Auto (so has the ATF cooler inside) but that's probably what you'll get sent from that website too (I know I did, even though I specifically ordered one without it ::)) but that doesn't matter, you just don't connect anything onto those connections ;) :y
No worries ... we all have lives outside of here, and they should usualy take priority to be honest !!
If you could get a price including postage I'd be well happy ... especially if it comes below £120 .. which is what I reckon the cheaper one would be with delivery and VAT.
I'm in no hurry for it at all, it's just a job to do before the summer towing starts, but must be done before end of July as France will be beckoning :)

I hope there's not going to be a comparison with your pattern/generic wheel bearings ....... ::) ::) ::) My new rad came from Vauxhall ;) ;) ;)

It'll work out just over half of that. £60 (I will confirm this) for the Rad plus whatever it costs me to post it for you ;) In fact. might even be able to transport it by OOF network ???
It is, like I say, one with the built in ATF cooler but I fitted one the same to mine and it's been fine :y

Have you tried driving along with the air-con off,as the compresor could be dragging,also check thermo-switches,is the thermostat opening fully,
. I have a 3.2 and a 3.0 both auto and both have the same cooling systems,ext gearbox coolers,the 3.0 runs at 95 the 3.2 runs at 85 ?

The problem only occurs under very specific conditions : ...
a hot day ... above 20 degrees
caravan on the back
Steep(ish) hill
Kickdown so RPM is held above 3000 rpm
In other words .. making progress up a hill with the van on the back on a hot day :)
Given all those conditions the temp will start to rise, quite quickly, and it will go over 100 quite easily. To prevent this all I have to do is to feather the throttle and drop the rpm below 3000, at which point the temp starts to drop quite quickly... but I'm now crawling up the hill at less than 30mph.
This points more at "insufficient cooling" than overheating, and the only thing that has changed in the last 4 years (and it never used to do this) is the fact it is 4 years older and probably 4 years muckier both internally and externally.
Given the other reported problems with miggie rads "silting up" a new rad should sort the problem for another 120,000 miles :)
Leastways .. thats the theory ... :)
