Poking around rear of engine tonight found walking shaped tube with a end that looks like it should be plugged in somewere, the end has a small hole in it, tried to take a shot but far to dark.  Could it be a breather of some sort?
2.0L GLS

Yes, if it like the breather on the 3.0s it is an open pipe to do with the breather system.  It just floats around! ;)

thanks although it is not an open ended pipe the connector?? on the end has a small 1/16" hole, pipe comes up near the centre rear and yes auto box.

Then auto box breather 100% mate  :y

1/16 pipe sounds more like a vac pipe to me, does it have a rubber half turn/joint on the end.
Auto box breather is closer to 8-10mm possibly even bigger

Do you mean 'walking stick' shaped? I misread initially, and indeed it does sound more like a vac pipe as MDTM says. Don't know anything about 2.0 engines though  :-X

You don't mean this dangly black thing on the black pipe hanging off the back of the EGR? (Near the rusty bits)

If so, it doesn't connect to anything.
