Well I voted never. Reason being since giving Omega to mum I have had to drive what most on here would call boring FWD eurobox (polite)

That said the Astra does what it say on the tin. I do not have the bonnet open every week, or a door card off or trying to patch the horrid facelift interior. Or the multitude of other problems that come with them.

I am not knocking the Omega, far from it. It is fast comfortable and on a run delivers good MPG for what it is. Also I have never been stranded in an Omega. It is just the vast amount of small faults that continually occur that drove me mad.

I voted 'Sometimes' purely on my experience and figured most would feel the same no matter what they got.

What do you all think AA?

Loving it, does what it says on the tin, no regrets on getting rid of the Omega, although, during nine years of ownership (2 Omegas), it's still a fine car.

Do I miss the Omega - 'fraid not.

Had it a month now, went for a decent run last week, and really enjoyed it.

Best part, I got 450 miles out of £74 worth of diesel, lots of mixed types of driving and traffic conditions.

Miggy would have given me about 230/240 miles of the same sort of driving.

Seating is very comfortable, lots of power from the engine, very solid and positive on the road.

Lovin' it, no regrets at all in getting rid of the Miggy I'm afraid.

To me it feels very responsive in the 50-70 mph range, far more so than my miggy, without flooring it ;)

But you never go above 45mph ::)

You'll find that it doesn't get much more anxious if you do floor it.

Apart from poor rear visibility, and a rather uninspring drive, I quite like the Insignia. In fact, I have 2nd dibs on the one I took to France last summer in about 18 months. It could be my next car  :-X

I found I didn't need to floor it, it was responsive enough.

I have to agree, there is more rear view visibility in an Omega, but I've got used to it, don't find it a problem.

Is that lots of town work? Should see 550 easy from a tank?

Yes, I expect to see 550+ on a decent run.

I'm measuring it on similar sort of motoring to my Omega at the minute.

When I go on a decent long run, I will reset it to see what I can get.

Amazing difference long runs make, guess as its new you are not doing any DIY work on it?

Probably fit rear parking sensors to it, looks simpler to fitting on the Omega.

Shall be having it serviced whilst under warranty, but will do an oil and filter change in between.

Yeah, but that was a very long thrash that. In similar conditions, I think 500 would be possible from my tank of LPG  :)

I'm sure someone like you could get well over 800, 850 even, on a similar run, as you wouldn't be arsing around (as much as you can in a diesel Insignia) with R8s, Lambos, Ferraris, kitcars, and all the other exotic stuff on the way to Le Mans.  And thats before we consider that the other car in our party was the Insignia owner's Morgan.

The owner did say, when he got the car back, how much quicker it seemed to go after I'd had it for a fortnight ;D

If you carnt get the fuel computer to say 70+mpg , i'd be suprised!

I took an old battered 05 plate Skoda Superb 1.9dti with 240,000 miles on it for a drive the other week and managed to get the fuel computer to say 71mpg at 55mph  :y

That old VAG non common rail 1.9 was a really economical engine. Doubt the modern ones can match it for MPG

I find them quite hard, yet not tiring on long runs.

Even Mrs AA couldn't fault the seating, and there's very few seats in cars that she can't find fault with. ???
