Hi all i am hoping some one can help me out with a miss fire that appeared last night the car was fine till i stopped at a junction then when i went to pull away it dropped to 3 cylinders once i got going it would run fine but now it is missing all the time i should also add it runs perfect in neutral as long as you press accelerator slowly it will red line the problems only happen when you put it in gear or blip the throttle the only code is P0302 misfire cylinder 2. I am tempted to say cam sensor
Ps rocker cover gasket was leaking now has new gasket and plugs and still bone dry down the wells

I'm tempted to say "rollocks" but won't .. :) (just why would a cam sensor give a consistent misfire on one particular cylinder ?? ) :)
Check all the electrics that supply the spark to that plug, then check the plug itself.... far more likely to be a "localised" problem than a general one IMHO :)
You could also check the wiring to that cylinder injector, just in case .. :)

yeah sorry mate my head is done in with it today things only ever go wrong with cars when you need them the most!! checked all the electrical connections and the plugs are brand new just changed them today when i did cam cover gasket

Take out the Coil Pack and check very carefully for minute cracks or fractures in the sides. They can be difficult to spot unless you're really looking closely. Also recheck the tightness of the spark plugs, they can work loose if not torqued correctly (28 Nm ) :-\

yep there is a tiny crack on number 2 coil :'( any one have one for sale??

do these tiny cracks realy make that much difference? just looked again and there is some on number 3 also

They allow the coil energy to 'track' to earth causing a weak or non existant spark at the plug, just like having a plug lead with a cut in it! :(
