As per above ^
We all have the OOF spirit, do we have the Christmas spirit too? ::)
-
Put the outdoor lights in position and checked out - but not switched on - only reason being I am away most of next 3 weekends.
-
Don't have a xmas here. not worth on my own. :(
-
Although we have no end of Xmas decorations,we haven't put any up at all for at least the last 10 years!
-
I don't own a tree or any Christmas decorations! ;D
-
As a bachelor boy I never used to bother with them, but SWMBO loves Christmas and is planning to get them up at start od December.
-
neighbours have had their tree up since late october (something strange there prehaps they can't wait ???) christmas is for december only lol :y

I fear I maybe the same, but if she wants them, she can get them herself ;D
-
Come on guys, where's the spirit? all the christmas songs while putting the tree and decs up, getting
quite alot p***ed up, all the food and nibbles, and more drink, and not to worry about whats going to go wrong next on the miggy ;D
-
NOTHING goes up before the 10th December at the earliest. That's still 2 weeks to go which is well sufficient.
Went into a restaurant last week, Christmas tree and decs all up, mixture of carols and mexican music over the damned speakers .. :( Why do I have to listen to such crap while I eat ?? :(
-
SWMBO asked if she could put up the tree on the weekend.
One glance and I think she understood.
Christmas things are for Christmas.
-
SWMBO started on the Christmas cake tonight, soaking the fruit in Brandy :y :y :y
Tree, a real 'un and decorations go up the weekend before and come down 2 January. We have a 15 foot fir tree outside the house with old fashion coloured light bulbs festooned on it which I'll put on when the weather is better and switch on again the week before Christmas.
We only celebrate the pagan festival and to keep the Christians happy ::) ::) ;D ;D
-
Far too early for the home (Xmas Eve is too early!!), but my bro has his up in the shops.
-
Bah! Christmas should be restricted by law to 'The Twelve Days'!! ::)
-
totally agree ^^^^ heart fm playing christmas songs,so i now dont listen to that for the rest of the year,i havnt got any christmas decs or put any up for the past 5 years, but looks like the new gf will be changing that this year, cant complain as she pays her rent on time ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
There's a house near mine that has been lit up with every external decoration you can think of for 3 weeks now. At home the decorations go up 2 weeks before Christmas with no external lighting.
-
As regards decorations or not much depends on whether you have kids/grandkids
As regards timing of putting up - if you are travelling around a lot during Christmas Eve to New Years Day period and you only put them up week before then it seems hardly worth it as you never reap the benfit of the effort . Entwood I think mentioned Dec 10th as a date which is pretty good timing/balance I think

Actually I quite like Christmas! :) It's the 3 month run up to it that I hate! >:( We seem to get it rammed down our throat from September onwards and I get heartily sick of it!! :( When it actually arrives (Christmas Eve) I'm OK, and abit of Christmas cheer helps things along! ;)

That sounds a bit like me, so agree with that...... :y :y
-
Christmas doesn't start here until December 20th at the earliest ::) ::)
I can understand the need for some shops to get the decorations up but, as others have said, the build up really boils my urine >:( >:(

I agree, the week before is soon enough, I don't mind preparing earlier and getting stuff in but it stays out of site until we're ready for christmas

If i had my way they would go up on Xmas eve and come down Boxing Day and thats still long. Always said that if i was on my own over Xmas i'd bugger off to the most remote lake i could find and spend the week fishing, no radio, no TV and no phone.
