They were done in mid 2010 and since then have only done a few thousand miles. One has failed.
Part must be faulty - will refer back to VX on principle even though it is not much to replace.

I put Vx ones on the 2.2 a few years ago now, still good. I fear yet again Vx parts quaility is really not what it was, unlike exhausts you cannot tell with others.
Got Meyle HD on the 3.2, too soon to tell how well they will last. They feel very well made, although concerned about removing them in the future when that allen key rusts....

AS said on here before theres a company near me that puts parts into ford/vxl/nissan/etc and so now you see-its like unipart years age thats why I laugh when people say must be GM?? its usually only the box!! I work now for a company that makes the boxes as got fed up being a nurse-hours etc
-
Quinton hazel clutches were also put into a. c .delco boxes and power train boxes....all q.h.clutches at different prices....i once visited fram filter factory and they put their filters into porsche boxes........hate to think what porsche charged for them......lockheed brake cylinders put into renault boxes sold for more money.....the list is endless...

Its usually not as simple as that, as the GM (Rover/Fraud/French shite/whatever) often do NOT allow the OE manufacturer to sell that part, written into the contract. They are allowed, sometimes, to make aftermarket ones, but not to identical specification. Unipart did have an agreement, certainly with AR, to produce some OE parts for selling into the trade, although I believe that expired in the Rover days, possibly even pre BMW. So, its only really in exceptional circumstances that it is just the box/sticker/packet.
As a community, we have a good enough grasp to know what pattern parts to recommend, and what to avoid, and what absolutely must come from a dealer. We have that experience, knowledge, and understanding. Additionally, we know when to recommend pattern over GM genuine parts, based on price and quality. For example, GM "Tradeclub" pads are slightly cheaper than the Unipart ones, but far, far better. Contiech and Gates V6 cambelt kits are of similar quality to GM, but far more reasonably priced. Nothing comes close to a genuine GM air filter for the Omega.

Trouble is miggies worth f**** all these days= insurance& fuel so why spend a fortune on a banger check values mate mine be lucky to get £500 could understand if worth £5k like my consul or Rover though

Absolutely.
Hence we, as a community, are in a unique position to recommend when and why to spend a little extra on a more expensive part (eg, classic example is V6 camcover gaskets), when GM is actually better and cheaper (eg, brake pads), when GM may be better but too expensive (eg, V6 waterpumps), and when the GM part is of poorer quality than similar (or cheaper) pattern parts (eg, exhausts). And what pattern to recommend - for example, back to exhausts, Eternal Car is a good exhaust, Bosal are poor.
Simply because its worth sod all isn't always a reason to put the cheapest parts possible on it. My Silver Bullet is worth thruppence halfpenny, but in a couple of months will be treated to £500-600 worth of premium tyres, rather than £200 of cheapo ones. An extreme, possibly unfair, example, but highlights the point :)

With reference to the OP's problem, what's the jury's view on Meyle HD Drop links then? :-\ Genuine question as I'm about to replace mine. GM or alternative, or is this part so simple that it's worth a punt at an alternative. :-\ For the record, I usually go down the GM route for parts.

They are still too new to know. The Lemforders are known to work well.
If you want to look at Meyles, I have a set in the garage, if our paths are likely to cross before you have to make a decision. Based purely on feel/looks, they look promising.

Cheers for that. :y
MOT due in mid December so I'll just buy a pair and give the Meyle HD's a go. :y When I put a bar under the anti-roll-bar, the lower bush has free movement up and down.
Sorry for the thread hijack pscocoa. :-[

How do you know if drop links have gone ? I have an annoying noise from front end when the roads uneven ,the noise was there when the car went for Mot and passed four weeks ago would they have been picked by Mot ?

Yeah, its like a constant knock/rumble over uneven roads. If its louder, and only with larger undulations, that will be other parts of suspension.
