Hi guys, I wonder if anyone can help? I am trying to fit an after market radio into a 2001 CD Auto, I have removed the factory fitted one and fitted the new facisa adaptor, but there doesn't seem to be enough room for the new radio to fit into the dash?! Has anyone else had this problem? Any easy fixes?
Thanks
Ben

How does it not fit? Any pic's

When I connect up all the connectors, and go to push the unit into place it 'juts' out about 2 inches, it won't sit flush, I have a feeling its pushing against the connectors on the left hand side as they seem to be fixed in place? I will take some pics tomorrow and post to assist.
Thanks

Remove the metal cage and release the connector blocks (held in by plastic tangs)

Sounds like a plan, is the metal cage just held in with lugs?
-
All sorted! Thanks to RobG who was correct that the metal cage was the cause of the issues! For anybody else that may find the same issue the factory fitted cage is held in by 1 screw simply remove and prise the cage out with a butter knife, there is then plenty of room for the wiring harness and the wheel control adapter,
Thanks again Rob your a star! :y

What HU did you go for in the end?
-
Oh yes! I was worried for a little while!
I had a Kenwood KDC-BT42U Head Unit that I'd brought for my Vectra a week before the engine went on it!
So I have put that in but I've added the wheel control adapter for the Omega

Replacement head unit does wonders, the standard 2005 unit is sooo weak!
-
Good job :y
I guess many will have to go down the aftermarket route at some point. It's the BOSE aspect that would put me off :-\
-
The sound improvement from the 2005 is amazing,
Mine is the CD so didn't have to worry about the BOSE aspect!
I hear things can go pretty badly unless you take out the bose amp and speakers, not a job I'd fancy I must admit!

Yes, nothing is compatible with the BOSE :-\
