Hi guys & gals.
I've just bought a secondhand front bumper to replace the one I have on the car at the moment as it's got some pretty deep scuffs on each corner and at the bottom of it that the previous owner kindly left there for me, so the plan is to prep it, get it painted and do a straight swap; the thing is my motor is a GLS (no washer jets or fog lights) and the new bumper is off a 2.6 elite so has washer jets (not a problem as I'll have them 'for show') and fog lights.
My question is, does anyone know if my GLS will have a wiring loom and the connections at the bumper end for me to plug the fogs into, then at the button end replace the blanking plate (next to the rear fogs button) with a button to operate the front fogs?
I know that Vauxhall sometimes fitted the loom but not the buttons to the level entry models and simply did what I plan to do for the higher spec models....or is it not that simple ::)
If the above is not possible I will make up a wiring circuit with a switch and relay/fuses as I'd like the fogs to work and not just be there for show.
Thanks in advance. :y

Only way to be sure is to look :y :y
The loom is likely to be there (as you have a Facelift) but you may need a relay as well as the switch :-\

I believe if fogs are fitted then they must be in working order for the MOT test, or am I talking rubbish (again ;D) :-\

If I were you I would also source a pump, switch relay, hoses etc and have the headlight washers working as well.Rude not to really.
Dont have any myself at the moment but someone might have some. ;)

Blimey, that was a quick response :o
Right, I will have a look this weekend for any connections.
I thought that (front) Fogs weren't part of the MOT (a same guy on Total Carlton had an issue with his fogs in that they didn't work and was worried about his impending test, he was answered with 'not part of the MOT') I wasn't asked to test mine on the Gsi when I took it in this year, though as it was completely restored my MOT man probably assumed they worked (which they do).
As I said though I will have them working one way or another, got an auto electrician mate who will do the work. That's if I have no luck with an existing wiring/loom.
Thanks guys. :y

Yeah, I did consider it. If I can get the necessary parts before I get the bumper done I'll fit it all together in one go.
Thanks Albitz :y

Me neither. Could well be one of those thorny issues Andy, maybe one of those 'at the testers discretion' subjects. :-\

Front fogs aren't a test item but if you have front spots (above bumper line) they are ::)

Additional or optional lamps are not included in the inspection.
As I thought ....... not part of the MOT ;) ;)

I also have the required parts from the '02 Mv6 I'm breaking, if it's easier than posting...

Depends if they are deemed as "fitted" or "optional" I suppose ::)

Could you hold onto the parts Brikhead, until I get around to fitting them? Need to put money aside for getting painted first really, but if you need to let them go it's no biggie. :y
