As I cannot remove the pipes from the heater matrix (after following instructions in guide) does anybody have any easy fix?
-
The pipes that feed through the bulk head are a "quick fit" and a guide on removal and refit is covered in the maintenance section.
The pipes that connect to the matrix radiator are held in place by a metal plate that is then held tight by a allen bolt. They also have a rubber "0" ring that seals them into the end of the matrix body and are a VX part..expect to be shocked :o at their price but essential to a seal.
Access is the biggest issue when working on the heater matrix..2 options...spend several days removing and refiiting the entire dash or the "cheats " method and cut small sections of the dashboard trim away...again covered in the maintenance section.

its these quick fit connectors that i cannot move even after following the maintenance guild
Can I cut them off?

Rather than cut them off,I wold get a pair of mole grips on them (not too tightly) and give them a twist. They just seize in position and need a bit of force (but not too much) to move them ime.
If you knacker them, give me a shout.I think I have some spares. ;D

Have tried that and they rotate freely but still wont come off.
if you have them spare for a 3.2 let me know how much as I think I will have to cut them off :(
Don't want to do that before I have replacements
-
If they are turning and you have the locking tabs/rings pushed forward toward the bulkhead then they should come off with a good hard tug.
I will check when Im at home if I definitely have some spares and let you know. :y

They are a tight fit and will require quite abit of force to remove them.
The pipe seems to seize on the metal sleeve and require considerable force to get them to twist which breaks the seal.Tab then needs squeezing and pushing forward towards the bulkhead which releases the grip off the shoulder on the metal pipe.
Easier said than done but they do come off, just don,t be too gentle ;D

think I will have issues when I come to check my HBV, no way can it be reached from above due to the routing of the gas pipes, so underneath it is, I am hoping it that as the thought of trying to remove heater pipes like does not really excite me ;D
