Title: Decisions, decisions...
Post by: Auto Addict on 25 November 2012, 09:55:09
Do I go outside and freeze to death washing the car properly, or do I take it down the road to the Romanians?

Freeze to death and do it properly is my vote. You know you want to.  :)
A cup of tea/coffee halfway through will warm you up again.  :y

I never get my hands soaking wet , just use one of those mops on a pole so no bending either , then just shimmy shammy off . The wind is raw today  :(

Agreed. The one and only time I've let the Kosovans / Romanians near it they had clearly dropped the sponge in the gravel a few times during the procedure. >:(

That's why I recommend option 3. Don't bother.  ;) You've only had it a few weeks. Can't need a wash already. ;)

Would be nice to to quickly wash the car then drive it into a heated double garage , sadly "quickly" and heated garage wont be an option  ::) , slowly and freezing cold is  ;D

Im not the fussiest person regarding car paintwork etc. but why anyone would pay them good money to rub grit all over their car is beyond me. ::)

Is it cold out in deepest Northamptonshire then. Not made it out of the bath, let alone outside.

The thought of it being cold, I may just let some water out, and top back up with hot - just dont tell my physio  :-X

Mine is determined to fall in the bath - walking along edge, trying to knock lappy in. Stupid creature.

The cheap washes here, although they claim valet, isn't a valet.

A proper valet is £75 upwards.

The £10 washes are little more than a quick wash, sometimes polish, and vac. Yes, and magic tree.

I *ALWAYS* avoid the supermarket ones, as they are reusing the water etc. As a minimum, and cheap hand wash I use must have hoses or pressure washers.

pressure washers generally cause trouble , I avoid them especially in winter.. however in the last years I never use those places as they damage or break something anyway.. :(

Thats why I prefer matt black-no polish-washing needed-looks fine all the time unlike Gloss black which shows up every bit of dirt and Leather seats wipe over with wet wipes-job done

Apparently you should never wash the car with warm/hot water , leaves more streaks . I always use rain water and found its much better than tap water  :)

I pay some minority ethnics to wash the Jeep, they do a very good Job and charge £7.00 a lot you may think but I give the £10.00  I only get the do do it 3 or 4 times a year, after all, a Jeep is best when dirty... :y :y

I wash it meself, but sometimes there just isn't time.

Machine wash? Or Kosovans?

There's a hand wash place round here that's very good, but even they took on a new guy. He dropped the shammey, picked it up and went back towards my car with it.

DOOOONT YOU DARE, ...touch my car with that... And off he went to get a new rag.

You gota watch em, but even then, I still found swirl scratches down one side of both our cars. Different place this time. Buggers!

in the last 10 years probably only 3 or 4 times I permit people wash my cars.. and even at this few times they do some damage..  :(  (last time they break the ash tray for clit).. (I never give omega to their hands)

so I decided better it stays dirty than trusting someone.. :(

and when travelling between cities on stops I park the car longest distance possible to the washers so their hoses cant reach ;D
