........sold for £6650 to a very nice chap from Aberdeenshire. He caught the train at six this morning and arrived in Sleaford at four this afternoon.
So I now have a little spare cash. :y :y :y Mrs Opti wants a new kitchen, but I have already dismissed this idea.
I'm thinking future classic. :) A motoring investment. :) Perhaps I'm crazy. :-\
But remember. They couldn't give away the last real AC Cobra to leave the production line in 1968......or the final V12 E-Type in 1975. They were heavily discounted in order to clear the decks for the svelte new XJS ::) ::) ::) ;)
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. :y

Monaro's are getting affordable now. Might be worth tucking up for the future while it's still easy to get parts. I got the LC a little to late. Even 5 minute fixes take weeks as you can't get the bits straight away
-
That was a quick change of choice! :o

I reckon Mrs Opti will have to be very very nice to you before she gets treated again!! ;D ;D ;D

Arh Mr Opti , if i had that wedge of money spare it would go towards something like THIS (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1968-Rover-P5b-Good-Body-and-mechanics-Long-MOT-/170934889356?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item27cc836b8c) , use it for a while then lock away as an investment :)
-
Well, I had a lengthy telephone conversation with the owner of this who then sent me a load of photos .
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stunning-BMW-635-CSI-Silver-blue-cream-interior-Rust-Free-Much-work-done-/281025209432?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item416e686458
The car looks straight & very nice although it has had work done on it in and around the sills + arches at some point, but all of them will do . The interior is Lotus white from a later car but if you can live with such a light colour it's OK. The M30 engines are unburstable . I'd say it's a £2.8 to £3.2 K car , if all is well.
I'm a recent convert and have to tell you they are smooth and powerful.
He's currently in Africa on business , back on the 30th.

I rather like these, for sale within spitting distance, actually one has been sold...... :(

Love both of those - Rover 90 in particular has good memories for me ( as does Humber Super Snipe)
-
I'd like one of these! :)

Owning an Omega would be like an apprenticeship for having one of these!! ;D

Mr opti has a hole burning pocket with all these suggestions ;D Maybe wiser to buy the much wanted kitchen
:-\
-
Don't be mean Opti.
Mrs Opti must have the new kitchen! :D :D :y
Do not forget that a new kitchen can add good value to your prime investment, your house! 8) 8) ;)

I dont think kitchens can go 150 mph ;D

My trouble is that I'm far too benevolent. The rotary rice burner turned out to be no more than a "five minute wonder" as far as Mrs Opti was concerned. I won't make the same mistake again, perhaps... ::) ::) ::)
Still, I paid £6800 and sold it four months later for £6650 ( although I also taxed it for a year at a cost of £475 :o :o)
You guys have posted up some pretty tempting old motors. The BMW 840 couple looks like a classy drive for new Mondeo money.......and an old Rover is always appealing. :y
I keep thinking that an old Jensen Interceptor would be a good bet.......but what do I know. SFA. :y
-
The XJ6/XJ12 Jag coupe looks gorgeous. Prices are still pretty low at the moment. However, I'm not sure that the dreaded tin worm won't have had it's fill. :-\
-
The BMW 635 looks great value. If only I could get a mint 3.0 CSL for the same money. ;)

Maybe a splendid kitchen appliance would suffice :-\

That would be absolutely right in 1951 Opti, the last year your hero, Clement Attlee, was Prime Minister and those washing "aids" would have been the last word in progress, you old fashioned devil ::) ::) ::) :D :D.
Thank God things have moved on since then ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)
So buy Jan that lovely new modern kitchen :P :P :D :D ;)

If When you do update her kitchen, can I have first dibbs on her old mangle, please? I reckon it'd make an excellent malt mill for my home brew. :y
Er.. You will be treating her to a new mangle, I assume? ;D

Certainly not, Kevin ;D ;D. During the austerity years of WW2, the government motto was "make do and mend" ( waste not allowed) :y

I've owned one of these and they are quiet rare, prices can only go up ;)

Thanks, Pete. I think the later V12 had the full fat 6 litre lump in it. Not as pretty as the earlier cars, but excellent value. :y

I've never understood the connection between Jaguar/Daimler, Daimler-Benz and Mercedes-Benz... :-\
