Title: Head unit wiring
Post by: Dink on 28 November 2012, 13:01:42
Hi all,

My PFL Omega has an aftermarket head unit fitted. It is plugged in to the standard ISO connector.

All working fine except when the engine has been turned off it defaults back to the start of the CD, even if I have been listening to the radio!

Is there some wire or other I need to disconnect to sort this out?

It doesn't forget the radio stations stored so I'm presuming the +12V is fine.

Thanks.

Although a standard "looking" connector, the connections on Vauxhall are not standard !!

I would reckon the yellow and red wires need swapping over (live and ignition) even though your radio stations have not been lost (yet) - Some radio`s retain stations longer than others.

Earth is in the bottom corner of the ISO block - wire above it should be ign switched and not permanent.

If all else fails, and correctly wired, a make and model of stereo fitted would aid further diagnosis

All sorted now, thanks for the help.

I swapped over the switched 12V and +12V and all is working ok.

Worth noting in case anyone has this problem in future that my switched 12V was not yellow, it is exactly the same shade of red as the +12V! Only yellow wire is a speaker wire.
