I need to get my starter off, either to change, or possibly just to clean the terminals. I have never taken a TD one off before, and it looks a right Pig, anyone ever swapped one? :-\
-
Yeah, quite easy once the inlet is off :y
-
Just be careful of the paper manifold gaskets
-
I took mine off with the manifold already off, it looked rather tight for space with it on. I've got one spare if you need it.
-
Thanks lads, I now know it is removed from the top then.

Just to make things awkward.... the last one I remember removing I think we did from the bottom.... but after that we were taking the transmission out!!
I can't properly remember, I was with LB66, if that's any indicator of how long ago it was... :y

Clearly you haven't done it enough times ;D
I got quite quick at doing jobs on that engine in the end ::)
-
Sounds like I am due for some fun then :-\

i found it a pig . if you need new inlet gaskets you,ll probably fid a range rover dealership are the cheapest. :y
-
Good point, always a gamble, if I don't get any I will rip the old one, and if I do get one, the old gasket will come off in one piece! :-\

Sorted, delayed things & did the job in my mate's heated garage. Thanks to JonnyboyWS6 for the starter.
-
Glad to be of assistance. Keeps another Omega going and my pile of spares-I-will-probably-never-use has shrunk slightly, so everyone's a winner!

I appreciate the help, but just refused to do it in the drive at minus several degrees! Only took an hour, and it was pure pleasure working in a cosy garage for a change. :y
