Title: Bluetooth - Ex Police Car
Post by: claude15 on 12 December 2012, 03:46:39
Hi, new to this site.. I have an ex Police car (2010 Omega Wagon)

The Bluetooth isn't working in it, control is on the steering wheel, when you press it, it is trying to find the phone, but can't and the phones can't find it..

Can anyone help with this issue, I have heard that all ex police cars are sold with the bluetooth not working, how can I fix it??
Thanks in advance

Hi, and welcome to OOF  :y

You're in the right place for help, but it would assist if you could update the details regarding your car, and probably location. Omega production stopped around 2003 ish, though there were a few registered after that, particularly police cars. I don't know of any though that had Bluetooth fitted.

I'm no expert though, and someone more knowledgeable will be along to advise you, but I think some more information and clarification will be required  :y

Could be! That's shy I think the location may be important.

Hi to all..

I'm not to sure on all the details, I'm in Australia, and they are still making and selling Holden Omega wagons here!!

I purchased an ex police wagon 2010 model with about 60,000 Kms and apparently most police vehicles when sold the Bluetooth isn't working, I may need to find help closer to home

You may find that the bluetooth will need to be activated via a tech 2 device if it was disabled when it was used as a police car  :-\

Knowing a little about the GM approach to bluetooth of that era, I suspect you will find that you have steering wheel controls that offer no function. To get the phone gateway, you would probably need an additional module (UHP4 being the one used across most of the range here and in the US and later changed to a newer variant on the Insignia and Astra).

A quick ecu presence check with the offical diag tool would soon confirm if its there or not.

The same as my 2007 Mercedes then. I have phone controls on my steering wheel (& the dash) buy need a further 'bluetooth hpf' module to actually use it.

sadly your Omega and ours are not related. Our Omegas are the same as VT and VT-II Holdens. 1998 to 2003 or thereabouts.
