Be very careful with no.4 as it has a sensor built in/on to it. Mine were done by a fuel injection specalist and they broke it, at there expense as well.

Is that the engine with 3.0 litre capacity, but with 2.5 litre software?

Glowplugs don't have sensors, number 4 injector does though. They are easy unless they are seized of course. Plenty on ebay, NGK are recommended on here.

If you are referring to the 2.5TD BMW engine (not heard of the 2.5L, unless that's litres), TB says he can do them in an hour, it took me about four the only time I've had to change mine, ideally the inlet manifold needs to come off for access, and you 'may' then need new gaskets, otherwise a very straightforward job. Shop around BMW and Land Rover, who used the same engines, for the best price on Glo-plugs. I was picking up a filter at my stealer yesterday, and he tells me that BMW also used the same plugs in their 2l diesels.  :y

Ive done them in my lunchhour before, with ease. But then I've done it a few times ::)

Inlet manifold has to come off, which is the most time consuming part

Thanks...just wanted to know as there is a nice looking early estate up for sale near me for VERY little money, with a hard starting problem,(glow plugs)?. and an "engine cutting out" problem... the garage wont do it because they reckon the g/box and engine on there own are worth more than £500-ish if it was broken up...which would be a cryin shame.

Just check if that is cold start or hot start problem, as if the latter there are other issues. :y

inlet manifold may need the 6 paper gaskets . another thing if mine gets hard to start i always check the small rubber tubes that go from one injector to the other first , not forgetting the blank on No6. these can cause a bad starting issue :y
