hi guys, question for ya....
my cats are on their way out, i have seen/found your mod to cure faults codes but cant see that by doing this if the car will still pass the mot emission test???
also i have found a complete new system on ebay very cheap from poland? for under £110 which is good but is it any good? anyone bought/tried or even heard of any one fitting one with good results?
or best place to buy new cats from...
tnx mark

What is the link for the Polish exhaust. At £110 I doubt that it includes cats. I bought a Polish exhaust for my Omega 3L for about £110 a few years back and was very pleased with the quality.

Why do you think the cats are on the way out? ???
If just from precat efficiency codes then it's nothing to worry about, it will still pass emissions test with the sensors moved ;)
As for replacements... You're better off with 2nd hand, genuine GM cats than any aftermarket ones on the market ;)
Finally, the recommended "cheap" exhaust on here is from eternalcar :y

I've just ordered a new system for £109 from France (I think - maybe Poland) and it's from the cats back... you won't get a system that cheap with cats

I got some cat's from Poland, they were a crap fit but the car flew through the MOT.
I guess it's one of those trade off things....

this is the one i bought and was vvv impressed with the delivery, the fitting and o yes the price. :y

tnx guys, that gives me good options. yep your right excludes cats, if all else fails read the instructions lol.
in one off those catch 22 situations as intend to keep the car for a while so might bite the bullet and buy cats, time will tell.

You still haven't answered the question though... Why do you think the cats are on the way out? ???
If it's borderline on emissions, I'd be seriously tempted to try some Cataclean before fitting restrictive, aftermarket cats :-\ If it's just the codes, move the sensors and it will be fine :y The only reason to replace them is after everything else has been eliminated ;) The Facelift V6 Cats are fairly bulletproof :y

yep sorry. emission/warning sysbol light on and p0430 and p0440? cant quite remember the code but was as to cats.
either way i will be holding off for a while as wrong time of year to mess around with yet..
might try cat cleaner first i guess...

That code relates purely to the Pre-Cats. It will pass MOT emissions test no problem. Best solution is to relocate the sensors as per the guide ;)
If you fit an aftermarket cat you'll probably have the same problem again within 12 months ;)
-
So precat failure then, same as every other 3.2 and most 2.6's have had or will have given time! As said, the main cats are more than up to the job (as they always were on the 3.5 and 3.0 that never had pre-cats), get the sensors moved and that's the job done.
-
As others have said, pre-cats have failed, not main. Don't be tempted to change the cats, pattern ones sound dreadful!
-
cheers guys... ok will sorce and get parts for moving sensors, ready for when the warm weather comes back but could be a while though!!! lol

as they always were on the 3.5
