Card today from my old boss and his wife, seems some friends and work colleagues of some 16 years ago when we split due to closure, but had known them for about 10 years, prior, have died :( :( They were both 2nd and 3rd deputy head of a 'special school' I worked at for a nearly 10 years. Sadly contact has been lost over the years except with the old 'Head' anyway, I remember my dad some years ago complaining about those around him dying off, and I seem to find myself is similar situation... ::) Neither smoked and one was very fit and active, lots of hill climbing and walking etc, neither drank heavily though one did enjoy his single malts in moderation... ;)
Sadly lost touch with all but my old boss, the Head, also learned a while ago that one of the kids I got on particularly well with died in a car crash at about 20 years old..... :'( :'(
Not dwelling, but I was saved from dying in 2002 by major surgery to remove the bit 'C' seems I am getting to that age :( we must remember that life is precious and we should make the most of every day we have.. :) :)

3 things in life are certainty
1/. your born
2/. you die
3/. you get shafted by the taxman :-X ;D
The rest is a lottery so all I try and do is wake up with a smile on my face and go to sleep the same way :)
Other that a few basic precautions taken with my lifestyle, the rest is fate we should all get on with it imho :)
Know what you mean about people around you that you know though, its been a little like that round here over the last couple of years :(

That what my great uncle complained about the most about living to a very old age. Having to go to funerals of all of your friends and family, where he lived until he was 98. He was only out lived by one of his younger sisters, who lived to 101.

Sad news indeed, but I think its overall lifestyle, not just exercise, etc. My grandad lived to nearly 80 and he smoked 40 a day and drank like a fish. But he did eat well and was fit for his age.
