As per title ive swaped the engine on my ldv but the new engine wont fire.
Its the 2.4 duratorq my ldv was a 53 reg and the donner is a 54 reg.
Ive tried putting the ecu and imobiliser pickup at the key from the donner van but the engine wont turn over at all but it turns over ok with the original ecu/imobiliser.
Does the fuel pump need to be re-mapped.
I'm thinking the imobiliser has somthing to do with it as the small red light on the dashboard is flashing like crazy.
just to add Im getting fuel at the injectors
-
have you checked all electrical connections, because it should fire up if its the same engine.
-
no, with these, the fuel injectors need to be programmed into the engine ECU. This is a Ford job.
The injectors all vary slightly, and each has its own coding. This coding is stored inside the ecu. If the ecu doesn't match the injectors, it won't start.
-
ahh right, same as vauxhall have done on there engines.
-
cheers woody looks like i'll be calling in some favours
-
cant you change the injectors over from the old engine to the replacement???

I took the transponder from the donor van (plus key) but the engine refuses to turn over ive also tried swaping ecu's same again won't turn over but if I put the original ecu/transponder in it turns over ok just no life.
I forgot to mention this engine isnt a common rail.
The van is in Edinburgh it's a conversion from a 17 seat bus to a motorhome (sad I know pmsl)

have you checked the timing on the cambelt,it could have slipped a tooth at some point

Timings fine mate it was running an 2 hours before it was transplanted.
It turns out the imobiliser needs to be re mapped to accept the injector pump.
Thanks for all the replys chaps :y
