hello.
i think im in the right topic room, ,my 2002 2.2 16v cd on an auto box is missing first gear so it pulls away in 2nd gear even though it dont go in 1st gear it goes through all other gears lovely and my engine management light is on, some one told me it was my gearbox sensor unit but does anyone know if its my speed check sensor or my output sensor, can anyone help or has this happend to any one else or is this normal. many thanks darren

First thing we'll need is the fault codes that have been stored.
It may sound silly but have you made sure the "Snow mode" switch isn't on?

hello, were would i find the code or did you mean the code number of what the machine gave me, thats a good question i havnt checked the snow button but would that trigger my management light on. thanks darren

Snow mode puts it in 3rd gear mate ;)

hello all, ive just brought the car back to mine and i tryed pushing the snow mode button and i pushed the sports button 2 and none of them 2 buttons light up and the s didnt come on dash bored, any ideas or is that all done to the sensor.

think theres a fuse if so under steering column 2nd row down from top extreme left(9) hope that helps :y

4 pots are known for cam sensor upsetting the gear box. So check engine codes, as well as gear box codes. IMO.

Limp mode and Ice mode both put the gearbox in 3rd for start-off. Sounds like your car is in Limp Mode. The codes will reveal all!
You should be able to manually select 1st and 2nd gear should you require it.

hi mate ive tryed doing it manually in 1st but it just revs like in n or park, so i manually put it in 2nd and it was fine

With the recent rain/salt/ on the road, muight be worth giving the Transmission Selector Switch a clean!

looks complicated lol i thought it would just be a bolt of and clean and bolt back on but im not sure what it means by lining it up, is it srung loaded or does it mean it goes back a certain way, ??? ::)
