Title: Never been so ill in my life.
Post by: alfie on 20 December 2012, 07:26:15
Hi all, just letting you know that this cold / flu virus has got me,and it's a BITCH,cough cough cough all day and night, vomit and the other thing that I won't mention. This has gone on since last Friday, and the doc says it can last 3 weeks,so thats my xmas buggered.
There is NO remedy, antibotics won't work,so while you lot are enjoying yourselves over the holidays give a little thought to Alfie and his missus, yes she has it too.
Going to make sure that I get the flu jab next year, anyhow everyone have a very merry xmas and a happy 2013.

                                      Alfie,

alfie, the virus infected your lungs badly.. so you cant discard the sickness easily..

use vix vaporub on your chest and c-vitamins..

and if you are a smoker decrease daily fags.. :y

ps: forgot to say, may sound odd, but if you have a treadmill in home , drink 1 glass strong alcohol  then run/walk until you spit your lungs.. ;D

you will see faster blood circulation with alcohol will clean the lungs quicker than you can guess!

Ripped through my household  about 2 weeks ago. 3 of us got over the worst of it in about 48 hours however my little girl was rough for nearly 2 weeks. Twice it was looking like she was going to get admitted to hospital as the dehydration was looking bad and twice just at the last minute she managed to keep some water down. I feel for you I really do and the flu jab didn't stop this one

Sounds like norovirus(wrongly called winter vomitting)? Passed on among other ways by poor hygiene (lack of hand washing using soap and hot water and not just a dribble of cold water)

Hope you make a speedy recovery. It is very debillitating.

Take it easy.

Flu jab? Why does anyone want to get a dose of the last known flu intections injected into them? Bizarre.

So there you have it alfie, the definative answer to your woes!
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap & water after scratching your arse/gonads! ;D ;D
Seriously though, I hope you & mrs alfie are feeling much better sooner rather than later. :y

Ah you trivialiser  :D :D, there was a health expert on Tv and he said that was the primary cause of transmission of Norovirus. He gave a statistic of just how few people wash their hands after the toilet for example. I know it is true here in Spain. Hardly ever see anyone washing their hands after using a public toilet

I really worry about this sort of thing. We are due to see Amy over Xmas, and after trailing round the shops with joe public, nobody wants to pass on any bugs and maker her ill after her lung transplant.

Do we know the incubation period, before it show up with symptoms...?

Get well soon Alfie, and all involved. Sounds nasty.  :(

I'm sure nobody does.

But lots of people find it beneficial to be injected with antibody triggers derived from influenza virii that are statistically calculated to be prevalent in a geographical region based on past history and monitoring of virus mutations.  :y

I get stabbed with it yearly now......i used to get flue most years (probably my job doesnt help) but since  I first got talked into it.....touch wood i havent managed to get it or even a bad cold  :)

Plus apparently, as i was diagnosed with diabetes 2 years ago, if i do get the flu now, it will more than likely turn into pneumonia.......

And when your self employed anything to stop you having to take time off coz of illness must be a benefit  :)

BTW Get well soon Alfie  :)

Apologies for that Varche  :-[
Not my intention to trivialise something as nasty as Norovirus or any other bug that can cause harm, as I am more susceptible than most & dread the consequences if it hits our family! Since my last big health scare my sense of humour has changed dramatically! :o  I blame it on the donors who supplied the blood for my Op ;)

Hey Phil, no offence taken whatsoever. I remember your situation.

I suspect very few visitors to hospitals take care with washing either. So in come the bugs. :y ( where is the standard thumbs up - this double one looks like Arnie on steroids!)
