Just had my car serviced at the dealer. I insisted that they connected their Tech2 and update the gearbox and climate (pretty sure it was never done since the car left the factory as it was never serviced at a main dealer).
How can I tell they have actually done it, I don't trust them one bit.

Don't know about the climate, but the gearbox should be noticeably smoother.

Prefacelift climate, unless very, very early, you won't notice difference. Facelift, fans are less intrusive (but still slightly mental)
Gearbox - 3.0l auto, assuming they actually did do it, would have to be a GS820, and the step up to the latest makes changes noticibly smoother, and a stronger driver out of corners/roundabouts. Gearbox updates only possible on post 1998 cars.

mine's a '99, I'll give the car a good drive and see if I feel any change.
Those grease monkeys are terrible, they broke the support to the cabin pollen filter, the filter was hanging out...
they offered to change the brake fluid for £32 but when I came to pick the car up they said they didn`t do it cause they were afraid to break the nipples ::)
They didn`t change the air filter or spark plugs.
They refused to give me 25% for service club, and to accept my £25 voucher for joining service club.
So for the princely sum of £200 I got an oil, filter, pollen filter change.
And I'm no even sure they did the firmware update which is the reason I went to the dealer in the first place.
The good bit is that the guy from the parts counter was super friendly and I was able to buy rear air shock at a much discounted price via trade club.

£200 for that? DIY that's sub £45 for same thing!

I know, I was counting on the 25% discount, my £25 voucher, with all the filters and plugs to be changed.
Seems like the only difference between the interim service at 130 and the major service at 200 is the cabin filter :o
oh, and they forgot to stamp the book...

Grounds for a complaint in writing to the manager there.Thats disgraceful. £35 worth of parts and 20 minutes work.

I'd be emailing or writing to head office, complaining strongly without swearing and telling them I wouldnt recommend them to my worst enemy. Normally gets a positive response

I was thinking of changing my brake fluid springtime whats this about bleed nipples breaking?

They can get a bit difficult to budge over time. Give it the softly, softly approach and maybe a good soak in wd40 or similar and they should be ok. Go at it like a bull in a china shop and they may well snap

Thank you i'll start soaking them during the winter period, hopefully when its a bit drier!

Hmm I've never thought an Omega would need an update let alone could be updated like say a iPhone running iOS2 then suddenly updated to iOS5 there's a big difference . But would my 2.2i 16v 2002 Auto Omega benifit from an update I wonder ???. I couldn't tell if its ever been updated.
What other software updates are available for the Omega (that are worth while that is) :)

Occasionally there's an engine ECU update, although it makes no noticeable difference. Auto gearbox and, on the facelift, climate panel are the two that are worth doing.

I was quoted by a local VX dealer £40 just to look at the car to see if there are updated but the way he sounded on the phone I could have swore he didn't get what I meant, typical lol, Anyways if there was an update available it would be another £40 so £80 all in without vat he said. I thought that was taking the p..s so just said i'll think about it ::)
Can't see it making much difference on a 2.2i anyways. As the AirCon system is kaput so only the gearbox would be the reason to do it. And is not worth it atm anyway.
