Hi everyone ive just seen a comment on here and now im confussed as what this sensor is called can anyone help me plz my car dont go in first gear on an auto box it goes through all others fine just not 1st when i select the1st gear manually on my 2.2 its drives for like a 4 seconds then reves up. So im going to clean or replace the selected gear sensor on the gear box but my lights on my gear leaver are fine one comes on as and when i select the gear and ive just seen a comment whitch they have called it a range switch are these 2 diffrent sensors or the same one but with a diffrent name. If the lights always behave, I doubt its the range switch (selector switch), more likely a electro-hydraulic problem

Yer ive just cleaned the selecter gear switch anf put it back in and there was no change put it in first gear manually it moves for a couple of secs then just revs up but how comes my s botton dont work or snow botton ive check fuses and there all fine do i take a chance and buy a used selector gear switch. Many thanks darren

And also would it be worth changing the auto tranmmission ecu or would that not make a diffrence the machine said (mif) tranmmision mudule). Any ideas what that means p0700 its doing my head in and want to sort it :-(

Mate you done switch yes --Been doing boggies 2.2 same problem as yours Just fixed it!!! prize up gaiter on gearstick and soak all electrical plugs and things like little spade connectors!! Job done-simples :y :y :y :y :y

Oh right cool if it was a manual il be alright lol no good with autos. So say if i just buy a good tested 2nd switch would that sort the prob out.

in car=base of gearshift=leather gaiter=prise it off and you see switches and earth terminals GO mad and spray all you see ther mate with Electrical Contact cleaner ok :y

ok cool thank you will give that ago might go and have alittle play now would it be ok to spray it on the plugs when disconnected and on the pins of plugs etc, many thanks again, darren

Cool same here mate its doing my head in if not i dont know what to do next take it to an auto service i surpose ive just soaked it so il find out tomoz when i got to go work but will let you know mate many thanks again darren. It cant be much wrong with it as it goes in first gear for like 3 secs then just revs after that. But all the terminal under the geat leaver look fine. So fingers crossed. :) :( will let you know tomoz mate.

Hi symes nope no good :( just spoke to a mobile mechanic who used to work on autos and he said what was the code so i told him p0700 tranmission mudule he said could be the gearbox ecu
