Just came back home and car was running fine. Gone out to it now and it turns over brightly and quickly as usual but the car n spanner light is permanently on.
I think from previous posts, that's going to be a sensor ?
Grateful of any advice as I have breakdown on the way shortly and don't want to be told a load of old rubbish !
Thank you and happy Xmas.

Might help if you indicate what engine ;)

A 2003 2.6 V6

Might be worth putting that in your profile :)
Start off with a pedal test & post up the codes :y

1st attempt at pedal trick.
I BELIEVE it was 0335
-
Yep, tried it again 0335.
Many thanks in anticipation and profile updated too. :y

Sounds like the keyfob has lost it's syncronisation with the Immobiliser, have you opened the keyfob for any reason i.e. to replace the battery? It may be the Immobiliser Chip has fallen out of the keyfob :-\

No surprise, but crank sensor :)
P0335 CrankshaftPosition sensor "A" circuit malfunction

Thanks for your replies guys.
Andy, no i haven't been fiddling with the key and the light is permanent but she won't start.
Seems like a trip to the dealers on Thursday or try AndyC's parts dept.
Thanks for reading and taking the time to reply.
PS.. Cheeky git from recovery firm on being given the info of what i thought may be wrong said don't carry parts and we'll cancel the call !
I've insisted that they come now, just for the hell of it. :y
-
For a laugh, be interesting to see what they say ;D

Well not driving tonight now, so back into the house now to drown my Omega sorrows.
Happy Christmas to you all. Be safe. :)

Tunnie, I'll let you know .........apparently will be with me within the hour and I've been advised in the most recent call to stand away from the car and as far up the hard shoulder I can safely go.
The car is on my driveway in a cul de sac ...................

Thats a good start ::)
I'd hope he would have a code reader and tell you basically same we have...

Do be prepared for the possibility that it will start and run fine by the time it's cooled down while waiting for 'recovery'.
But don't be tempted to drive it anywhere much until you have a new genuine sensor.
-
You are dead right.
It has just started but i'm not going to drive it as at least it' reasonably safe and is off the road where it is.
Cheers

Classic symptom of a failed crank sensor ...... my Omega did the same a couple of years ago, as did her Smart earlier this year. ;)

Breakdown driver has no diagnostic equipment or parts. Just a low loader.
He did however diagnose a c/shaft sensor and advised geniune replacement if I intend to keep the car.
Thanks for all your time and advice this evening gents.

Finally, how much will i be looking to pay for a genuine part please ?
-
Buy genuine Vx mate - believe part no. is 90540743 - last time I bought one around £50 - HTH :y
-
Local dealer finally located a sensor at teatime.
Is there any of you good people out there reasonably local to me that could fit it for me please ?
I don't have jack, stands etc i'm afraid as I'm useless at any sort of DIY.
Thanks for reading.
