I am hoping someone can help me with an issue on my Omega Elite which occured yesterday. I hadnt driven it since Saturday and when I tried to go into it yesterday the dead lock on the drivers door didnt release with the central locking. I used the key which unlocked it but when i started the car the Workshop light and the traction control light remained lit. Also the lights on the selector for the gears where flashing and if i selected D the number 3 light was lit. I switched of the car and turned it back on again and the problem went away. I drove about 15 miles on the motorway and stopped for about 1 hour and when i went to go back in again the same problem occured. could someone help me as to what the problem could be?

Driver's door lock is probably due to the locking motor. Have a read through these guides. :y http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90504.0 http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90642.0
there's no 'workshop' light on your car, that's your Engine Management Light . 'Pedal Trick' will give you a code http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90594.0 but it could be your transmission selector if it's flashing your selector lights. http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90673.0

Sorry to be so thick. how do you do the Pedal trick. i have found one which is press brake and accelarator pedal and turn ignition on to postion 2. when I do this the EM Light flashes once then pauses then flashes 7 times then pauses, flash once and the 3 times. how do you interpret this to the fault codes?

1713. Which doesn't sound right.
1700 is a TCM fault, which given the symptoms, is more valid. Clean the selector switch

That's the pedal trick you've found ...... not sure how that equates to a code though (assuming you've counted the flashes correctly ;) )

i have done this again and got codes 1613, 1612 and 1700. looks like i have to do the TCM. is this an easy job or should i get someone to do it for me? if so is there any members in Manchester area that can do this?

ignore the 2 immobiliser ones for now. 1700, as expected, given symptoms, so clean the selector switch (under car, passenger side of box)

Or PM Elite Pete (think he's Chester), and buy a known good one from him (and fit, if you're not confident)

Thanks i will have a look at it first and then decide what to do :y

Its not a bad job, though the precat is a bit in the way

Many thanks to all responded. didnt have time to work on it so sent it to a automatic gearbox garage and £60.00 later it is back working correctly again. was exactly as diagnosed. I just have to change the door lock solenoid now which i got from Omegaspares.com and should all be happy again ;D :D :y :y
