Title: Ikea.. making shopping difficult since 1943..
Post by: aaronjb on 27 December 2012, 11:14:24
Did you know that if you place an order for something in-store (to have it delivered, in this case) that you can only amend or cancel that order in the same store you placed the order?

Neither did I until I needed to cancel the order for a set of wardrobes for which a) they've discontinued the doors (just the doors, mind, not the rest of it) and b) it turns out won't fit in the room height wise..

So partly my fault and partly theirs for letting their sales people sell something that's half discontinued, and they tell me that the only way to fix it is for me to drive to Southampton today.

What year is this, again? Has nobody at Ikea heard of centralised order processing? FFS.. </rant>

But I'm supposed to be working ;)

Fortunately their customer services people just redeemed themselves (well .. I'll consider their redemption final when I see the refund in my bank account, but) and have 'managed' to cancel the order with the store. Success.. I hope.

Ikea ! My nightmare

I go there once every few years to remind me not to go again for quite a few more years.

They do good breakfasts, and good meatballs. Other than that, I never go.

Invariably get banned for telling the security to breed, as I refuse to walk around entire store, so always take the shortest route out (ie, the way I came), which they don't allow.

Yep, credit where credit is due .. the meatballs are nice..

Some of the rest of the stuff they do is nice, too; but why must the shopping experience be so damned awkward? Perhaps the convenience of Internet shopping has ruined me.

Really...? I might go, just to brake the "rules"!

We have the MIL staying. "I have never been to Ikea, could we go to the one in Malaga?".

Off we trot (well she drove around in comfort on her mobility scooter.)

It was just as well that there was a restaurant half way round for half time. We all had braised shank of lamb which was excellent. Wished I could say the same about the shop. Never did find the tools and car accessories department.

We took our trailer the last time to buy a sofa. No cover for it. You can check the stock level on line but you can't reserve. Bit of a gamble when you have a ninety minute drive and they sell 10 a day. :y

Ive only been once,to the lakeside branch about 12 years ago ?,and never ever again.I still have nightmares about it.
Swmbo had £1000 of vouchers to spend and daughter was there buying tat for her first flat. We must have spent 8 hours in there.
I ended up with 4 ::) of the big trolleys for carting the furniture around in and had to keep dragging them  around the shop until we finally got out.I had a Transit pickup and it all only just fitted in the back.
It really was a day from hell.

I refuse point blank to ever visit Bristol ever again due to Ikea. I got stuck waiting for goods for 3 hours. Then I lost my rag and demanded a refund which took another hour then all the traffic got screwed up. I had my lad with us and he was only 4 months. It took me nearly another 3 hours to get back to Salisbury. Never ever again will I ever darken Ikea. Their customer service was/is shocking in fact it all most ended in a full on fight and all because i asked for money back. They basically said I should just forget the money and fek off. there words not mine.  :(

Ah yes, we do occasionally have to visit the blue and yellow planet Ikea, I hate the place, the slow random movements of the other visitors and the continual baskets off tatt placed around the place.....grrrr

I hate . . . . the excercise. Having to walk miles when all you want to do is get out.

If you fancy a real challenge, try the relatively new store in the centre of coventry. As you can imagine the store footprint is quite small so, to get everything in it has six floors. Lifts which only go to certain floors. stairs which dont access every floor.

you have to follow the trail, which is up to the six (restaurant) then down, even if you know exactly where your item is in the warehouse section, you still cannot get there.
