Just read a piece in this months Pratical Classics magazine saying that Dr Alex Moulton has passed away. For anyone who may not recognize the name he is the man who brought the hydrolastic suspension system to such vehicles as the mini,1100/1300 range etc.So yet another motoring name has left us.

I fondly remember my mate Will cutting through the flexi pipe of a hydrolastic system when we were dismantling yet another 1100/1300 for parts.
The foul (greeny yellow?) liquid went all over the front of his parents house.

I also believe he designed a revolutionary push bike.

Yes OPti, that is what I think. The Moulton folding bike, that I believe now is a collectors item. :y :y :y :y
Sad about the passing of the man himself. RIP

One distinct characteristic of the bike was solid rubber suspension IIRC. Very similar to a (proper) Mini's .

Still available to buy. And as per the company itself, not folding, but separable; whatever that means.

That link is interesting. :y :y :y
Not folding then! :o :o In the 1960's it was always considered to be a folding bike, even on Blue Peter!!. Obviously that was a wrong observation, but it certainly seem to collapse to go into a Mini cars boot. 8) 8)
