I got me and my old man tickets to see the Darkness in March. Really can't wait and just listening to their new (well, July 2012) album came across their version of Radiohead's 'Street Spirit'....

Well I got the new Kiss album for Christmas, along with UFO greatest hits on CD, and Journey's 'Live in Manila' DVD (looking forward to seeing that).
Am hoping to catch Whitesnake / Journey in concert, and also Rush. Both those gigs are in May :'( In the 4 disc changer atm, I have Iron Maiden, Rush, Journey and Coverdale/Page.

They used to have that in their live set a few years ago, great stuff !

i'm taking mrs bear to see jon bon at villa park end of june.
i listened to his live recordimgs. not impressed sadly :( he sounds terrib;e

cant seem to get in to them. ive listened to them a lot but just missing something for me. i know thats like an artist saying the sistein chapel is crap.... but just dont get it myself

I went right off The Darkess when I saw them at a big Festival at a time when they were on TOTP and had Xmas songs etc, so they had a big teeny and pre-teeny following. Lots of Mums & Dad had taken their kids to the festival to see 'em.
Darkness came on stage, and on the backdrop behind them in huge giant letters was the simple word C***. Parents left trying to explain early departure to their kids. You can't have things both ways, a band is either TV & family friendly OR foul mouthed rough 'n ready rock 'n roll. Very few bands/artists have been able to do both.

I think the lead singer of darkness was trying to take on freddie mercury :-\ , quite surprised they still have a big following . You cant beat a bit of Led Zepp to get the feet tapping :y

i certainly know what you mean about freddie mercury. but to me its like oasis and the beatles... oasis never tried to better them, yet merely confirmed that they loved them and were a massive influence. that you can respect. i dont think justin wud ever try and outdo freddy. i really dont think they take themselves too seriously which is partly why i like them
in my opinion though (and i know a lot will disagree) but i think the music is very different. if you listen to the darkness theyre at times pretty heavy. yes there were the pop songs they did to get them noticed but listen to their albums and theyre different.

For what it's worth,in the CD magazine at present I have Elvis,Meatloaf,Lady Gaga and Mozart!Plenty more CDs in car to swap and change,all then depends on mood as to which I listen to.
