Title: Opening trunk
Post by: Lookitt on 31 December 2012, 11:50:04
Hello, sorry for my english, I'm french. :-X

I've a x30xe of 2000, and to open the truck from inside, I should remove the key and push the button of trunk. How can I open the trunk without turn off the engine and remove the key ?

Thanks

The 2000 model, you have to remove key from ignition :(

Options are to change the alarm ECU (not starightforward), or do "Hillpers Boot mod" which has some unfortunately side effects.

This was a feature of early facelifts, you cannot open boot (trunk) within ignition on. Later ones allowed a 3 second push to do this, as it was a very annoying feature.

You can modify it so it does work with key in ignition:

Out of curiosity, (and having only ever owned estates), what are the side effects :-\

Can think of one significant one, feel free to PM rather than post if my thinking is correct :y

2 downsides, the bloody courtesy light doesn't go out when you start the car, and its ever so easy to accidentally pop the boot which fumbling for the CDC button ::)
