He did, but it was a 3.0L Ghia in this mornings program. Yep, I watched it as well, two episodes, one after the other. :y

Always a safe bet that as soon as a MK2 jag showed up you knew is was going to get crashed !

Did Regan actually drive the Consul/Granada?.........from memory he was always in the passenger seat having a fag. ;)

The bank robber MK 2 and S-Types were quite elderly by that time.......and probably due to be cubed anyway.

I have only ever driven Granadas once. It was during my lunch hour in the mid seventies.
Ford (in conjunction with Loughbro Uni) were developing modern speedos numerical display and not the needle type. You drove one car from Leicester Uni to Loughbro Uni and the other one back. Someone sat in the back with kit and asked you questions like 30 mph under or over, or what speed are you doing.
You had an eye test beforehand (and that was when I found I should be wearing glasses for driving!) and best you got paid £10 for the exercise. You could drive the cars how you liked (within reason I guess) In those days I only earnt £1800 in a whole year before tax.

I like the opening scene in the later series of the sweeney, chasing a bad guy who's driving a MK2 escort estate!

Actually, in the second episode today, Bill had down-graded to the later 2.8i Ghia.

I think in every scene someone was having a fag ;D
The granada was chasing the renault 16 , interestingly the renault seemed to handle better :D
