Loads of money, work, help, every bush, mount brakes steering, carb, cambelt & plenty more replaced but what a result.
Happy new year to all, Guy.

Although I had one as one of my business cars I never really took to the Mk3 Cortina.

However your example looks gorgeous, and I could begin to love it!! 8) 8) 8) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

The only point I would make, if I may dare to criticise such great work, is the wheels do not work for me.  A good set of original Ford Cortina alloys would make all the difference ;)

That takes me back over 20 years when we converted a mate's 2door mk3(in yellow) from a 1300 to a 2.8. In the street, in less than a day.
That involved parking the mk5 2.3 donor(which already had a 2.8) in front of the mk3, and dropping the front crossmember complete with engine and gear box. After removing the axle, a passing pikey asked what we were going to do with the remains. 5 mins with the HIAB, and it was out of our way.
Then we did the same job with the mk3, wheeled the V6 into place and bolted it up.
It went much better after that!

I like a mk3/4/5 Cortina, and could quite happily drive a slightly upgraded car every day. Problem is, they now cost much more than the £300 Dom had in these two cars!

I had the 2.0L estate version of that, same year reg as well, and it was also the first auto I ever had, absolutely brilliant, when the kids were young we took our 1st holiday up to Scotland, couldn`t believe how "nice" and easy the long drive was (from Birmingham upto just outside Inverness), just seemed to go so quickly, kept it for about 4 years, fond memories of that motor... :y
