Title: changing plugs
Post by: gpenny07931 on 05 January 2013, 13:40:11
Got the leads off and realised the plug wells are full of oil. Is it a bad idea to remove the plugs?

No leads on 2.2, you mean the coil pack?

On 3.0 Estate they were full of oil so I used an old spray bottle sucker bit to draw most of it out, others say just sod it and let it dump into the bores.

Will smoke a fair bit though on start up  ::)  ;D

IMO no it doesnt matter, but it does mean you need to change the cam cover gasket

I tend to use kitchen towel to suck the oil up, but thank God I have not had that problem for a long time! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

..........and Taxi Driver is right: you certainly need new cam cover gaskets plus the breather system blown threw thoroughly with carb cleaner. ;)

Oh, and also change the oil afterwards! :) :)

Got it sorted. Also filled the street with a cloud of smoke. Will get the gaskets ordered. Cheers.

Syringe with a thin peice of tubing then bit of kitchen roll pushed down into the well with a long thin screwdriver.
