Title: Engine missing no power Omega 2.2 1 auto
Post by: abuali on 06 January 2013, 13:35:01
When I start the engine , sometimes it is running perfect. But sometimes the engine seems to be ok until I put my foot on the accelerator and there is no power, particularly when I am pulling away at a junction. So now I test my car always by stopping on a by-road and pulling away, if missing , no power, I stop the car and switch off ignition. I then start the car and pull away , normally this works first time and car is normal power, sometimes I have to stop and start twice. Once car is running it is ok for ever until I stop and start car. And I have to go through same procedure. This happens whether car is hot or cold. Went to a small garage and he tested all and thinks it may be a Lambda sensor, front one. But he is not sure. Went to vauxhall he said it willl cost money, a lot to try and find the fault. Milliage is 53000.

Can you get codes read?

Worth trying pedal test here: http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90581.0 (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90581.0)

Not many 2.2's work though for that, so might need a cheap code reader.

Start off with basics, have you checked the plugs for oil/water?

Any dash lights on?

I do not have fault codes, but once car would not start and RAC told me there are a few fault codes showing. 1 . Lambda sensor 2. Cam sensor.
My engine management light is always on but car once running is great.

That will give you definite problems. Worth also giving the throttle body a good clean plus the breather system

Cam sensor will often cause other random codes, replace with a genuine part, nice easy DIY job  :y
