Hi,
I have never come across this before but my traction control light came on and then I lost power and the engine stalled, restarted runs perfect not missing a beat but as soon as I put it drive and pull away I seem to lose three cylinders and the engine stalls again, code read comes up with the following :
2001 Omega 2.5 V6
Engine Management
19-incorrect rpm signal
57-air control voltage low
ABS
C0241-engine torque incorrect signal
C0800-battery voltage low
C0236-no engine speed signal
Transmission
P1844-undocumented
any help would be greatly appreciated
cheers and thanks in advance
Chris

You have a Crank Sensor code there to start with ;)
Not sure on the others... But worth checking the charge voltage from the alternator
-
In have seen this on one car before. Not sure how or if it was resolved in the end but it was an ex-plod which had had the ABS wiring hacked about.
I would agree. Fix the crank sensor first, as this will leave you immobile when it fails completely, and a wierd RPM signal could be confusing the ABS/TC.
Once you've done that, clear the codes in the ABS ECU and see if anything reappears.

That was my thoughts but I wasn't 100% certain ::)

Thanks for the help folks, trying to locate a crank sensor now must admit everything seems to point it being that only thing put me off was the fact that I had no starting probs and it don't miss a beat untill I put it drive

Does the 2.5 have two different types of crank sensor? I seem to recall a post about it :-\ :-\ :-\
-
Yep, need to have a look at the connector on the crank sensor first to ensure you get the right part. Also worth getting a genuine one. Pattern crank sensor aren't worth bothering with.
-
hi, your right there are two types of crank sensors but they look the same according to another post on here so I opted for taking out the offending one for the part no and found one at www.Vaux-World.co.uk £53.45 delivered genuine part also will fit and post the results once it arrives, once again thanks for all your input.

I hope for your sake it is because non-Genuine parts have been known to fail again in very short order, even if they are made by the same manufacturer! Plus they're similar in price to that on Trade Club from Vauxhall, possibly even cheaper! Although there is one that's nearer the £80 IIRC.

Hi lazydocker, site says its genuine siemens part thanks for the concern, my local stealers wanted £92 + and did'nt have any stock I did check the part no first

Should be ok then, fingers crossed!
For future reference, if you don't have Trade Club Card or access to it (and trade prices) it's worth contacting andyc on here... He's happy to do TC prices by post :y

fitted new crank sensor still got the same symptoms I had before starts and runs perfectly then traction control light comes on and engine cuts out :(

Could this be a Mass Air Flow Problem guys?

Have you cleared the fault codes after fitting the new sensor and then you can list them again. Also, have you checked the charge rate as suggested above?
-
sorry for the delay in replying but I got called into work, I have cleared all fault codes in engine management, ABS and transmission will rescan on sat 12/01/13 and post any codes that appear, charge rate reads 13.89 volts at the battery terminals whilst idling at 620 rpm speedo reads 10 mph whilst stationary, I think possible fault in the ABS ECU with the traction control light coming on anyway will repost on sat cheers for now, Chris :-\

Hi,
just a quick update, I left my battery on charge to make sure I had a full charge in it car seems to be behaving at the min but still got the traction control light on, scanned systems and got the following :
C0241-engine torque signal
I don't know where to look now so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
speedo still sits at ten mph whilst sat stationary
cheers and thanks in advance Chris
