Looking at changing cars and saw a S-type 2.7 Derv. Stated it had done 54k on a 2006 plate. Seems ok & I was gonna go and see it in the flesh but I've done a HPI check which states it had 119k miles in 2009, the last time it was MOT'd & has had 6 owners :o :o :o Something not quite right, I thought all MOT history would have been on since they went digital???
Think I may give it a miss :-\

Walk away and don't look back!

Yup, walk.

Very tempted to just go for a look, no intention of buying it, just want to satisfy my curiosity. Its actually for sale near where I work (might take the fully livered Beemer & watch em squirm) ;D ;D ;D :D :D

might be worth reporting it to trading standards aswell :y

I have just had the same thing, I have a Punto and I hpi d it and it came back with 83k, I have the cars old mots and it states 38k on paper and when you check vosa. I also have the service records and I rang the garage and they confirmed there have serviced it for the last 7 years and it is 38868k. I think I will need to ring HPI something is wrong somewhere.

Things most important to note:
1. HPI National Mileage Register, they make a huge amount of mistakes per year, and cost traders thousands. Granted they do help out, but I had an 10 Plate X5 which had 332,987 miles recorded instead of 32,987. They cock up a lot of the time.
2. MOT's are not linked to the HPI database in anyway at all.

I'd walk away, not worth risk. Plenty of others out there :y

How long ago was it MOTed? The latest certificates have the last four years mileage on them when they went in for test.
