Funny you should say that. I was talking to an air con engineer at work on wednesday. According to him, next year, on order of brussels, they are bringing out whats called "F gas" This will be the new refrigerant gas. Any fridges/freezers/air con units both industrial and car based will be running off this "F gas" If your appliance is not F gas then it will need converting. To add insult to injury this will need checking annually by a registered engineer. Someone correct me if Im wrong but im going off what this guy told me.  :-/

i think this only affects refrigeration and air con plant with a refrigerant charge of over 3Kg.  This will be mostly three-phase gear in a commercial or industrial situation.  Most small stuff has under 1kg of refrigerant charge in it.  i.e. 13 cuft chest freezer has about 700g of refrigerant gas, providing it has been filled correctly. :y

correct :y

also old refridgerants like R12 will no longer be available but all omega's should be charged with R134a (newer enviromentaly better gas) as standard
