Shame really... Horse meat is rather tasty ;)

It's a bit off when people aren't expecting it though :o Although it seems the media are blowing it out of proportion ::)

Had a Horse burger in Slovenia, as LD says its good. Like beef but without any greasiness to it, I think it tasted better than beef in a burger!

I dont like the Tesco burgers, I know they are quite low in fat but they have a bit to much Shergar in them for me.

I note that all the retailers were saying that despite the news sales have remained 'stable'.

I've eaten Pferdewurst (horse meat sausage) in Germany. Nice, no problems

But I did know what I had bought and what I was eating.

Other reports have said that pork has also been found in beef products like cottage pies, curries etc, which is not nice for those who don't eat pork...  :-\

I don't think we should be at all surprised by any of this. Cheap foodstuffs have always had the dodgy stuff in them.

A student friend of mine years ago had a good maxim. "I don't eat food of indeterminate origin"

Yep.. And even if the beef burgers are actually beef, guess what bits they'll be mincing up and putting in them?

Hint: it's not the nice juicy bits of rump. ::)

Tesco express: 2:30 Ascot, No burgers or value burgers, manager said there had been a run, told me to take a gamble and come back later to see which comes in first.

Nothing wrong with horse meat, eaten it many times in France. Like beef, but a bit drier from less fat. Stopped eating it when the price went up, where I refused the jump.

Burgers, I always make my own, they taste so much better, much lower in salt and fat and I know which parts of the animal they have been made from!  :y

;) Media doing what they do best...blow everything up out of all proportion and add a few juicy lies to make it more interesting.
Horse meat is yummy and I have eaten it often, just wish it was more available in this country instead of only it going to pet food.
No doubt the horsey faction will object to anything pertaining to their mounts though! One track minded wallys that they are. Can they also start to pick up the huge deposits they leave behind them on the roads and worse, footpaths when dog owners have to pick up theirs or face mighty fines? The piles of horse crap are far bigger and stink just as much so why are they exempt?
Just like to see a fair playing field for all....
Hmmmm. how do the doggypoo spys collect the fines for the dogs who are running loose and unaccompanied yet still leave their deposits anyway?  :D

All, like you have said, state we would never eat meat again if we knew all the facts! :o :o :o :o

Well, Mrs. KW spotted some half price "spot the difference" meatballs on the way home from work. ::)

Very nice they were with some pasta and a spicy tomato sauce.

So, to all the neigh sayers out there.....

If mentioned earlier in the thread, apologies, I couldn't be arsed to read it all. But which film was it, where they disposed of a body via a mate who worked at a burger factory? You can guess the rest.

I just can't remember the title. ?

Wilt, the eponymous hero (played by Griff Rhys Jones, I believe) of the film, convinces a copper that he has disposed of his (supposedly missing) wife's body by putting it through a mincer in a pork pie factory.
