Phoned at work. The car wouldn't start this morning, had to get a lift to work ....... I think I was to blame for some reason ???
What's it doing I ask .......Turning over? Or just turning over slowly?
I'll get the key & you can listen. Can you hear that?
(HTF can I hear what's going on at home when there's loads of back ground noise behind me? ??? )
And the little orange light is now flashing!
Go & get the other key!
It's started! :-\
Have you had the key apart?
It came apart this morning ........ Oooo! I can see it on the drive.
She's the heaviest hand person I've ever come across!!!!

Don't let her have a key from now on ;D ;D ;D ;D :y

I got a call a couple of years ago, I was ill with Man Flue and got called out to Tesco by swmbo, car won't start, not even turn over.... ::) ::)
Put the booster pack into the car and drove down to meet her, as I arrived she was looking rather sheepish, she then admitted that she had just tried it again and realised that it was parked in 'D' (Auto) well you can only start an auto in 'P' or 'N' ........... ::) ::) ::) I passed as few comments....... :-X :-X

Many Moons ago I borrowed Her car to pop out and get some bits, walking out of the Vauxhall Dealer I get a phone call
'Where are you?, what time you back with my Car? need to go shopping, just tried your SRi and it wont start and its making a funny noise!'
In my hand is a brand new Cambelt together with the old one that I'd taken off to make sure I get the right part.
:o :-[ >:( :-X

Presuming you live in the same household didn't she even have the slightest idea that you were doing repairs on the car ? :o :(

Yep, or we did live together, wasn't uncommon for me to do things without asking her permission, fairly sure I mumbled something about working on the car, probably fell on deaf ears though.
Suppose on reflection, thats the price you pay for having each others keys on your keyring. ::)

If you were changing the cambelt .. surely the bonnet was up and a load of tools around ??? as well as all the bits you'd taken off to get the old cambelt off ??

Afraid not, in the street, so tools and stuff quickly chucked in the boot, bonnet shut and car locked to stop those sticky fingered kids etc. :-[

Was a 1.8, 8V Cav, bent some valves, didn't have much money at the time, managed to hammer the valves straight on my mate lathe, followed with de-choke, HG, Cambelt and Water Pump, good as new. :y

Exactly what I was told by a 1.8 Manta owner at the time, which was one of the reasons I took the job on with limited funds Ross, decided to check and whip the head off anyway for a de choke and found some slightly bent valves, not badly, but still bent.

The engine is designed / built in a way that the Head valves will not hit the Pistons through variations of there cycles, ie, if cambelt breaks any valves poking down should be missed by the pistons still rotating, sort of went out the window with twin cam / multi valve design.
