Sounds like it. I had similar with another car, pulled the switch and dismantled which showed that a spike in current at some point had caused connections to bridge. cleaned and replaced, problem solved :y

Thanks i will have a look :y

My money is on either the intermittent wiper delay timer (yellow box in relay box by battery) or the parking contacts in the wiper motor housing itself. The latter is probably more likely.
If I recall correctly, you can remove the yellow timer and it will stop the wipers. You lose intermittent wipe and self-parking, obviously, but at least you can turn them off!

If the wiper dont park is that an mot fail how hard is it to change the wiper motor
-
Just had a look at the wiper stalk seems fine checked the yellow relay and it was a bit hot even though the car has not been driven for a couple of hours so i have pulled it out wiper do still work no intermitent or park :y

Wiper motor is not too hard to change. Whole assembly with crank, levers and spindles unbolts and withdraws from under the scuttle panel and then you can change the motor.

Should the relay be hot when the wipers are off
-
Quite possibly, as the relay inside it will have been held on by the fault. Unless we're talking scorching hot..

Thanks Kevin it was pretty hot and i had to lever it up slightly when i removed it
