Think I'm going to change my rear springs and as usual could do with a bit of info/advice on wether I need standard rated springs or heavy duty. Car is a 2000 3.0 LTR ex police MV6 :y :y

Point taken, not really a tear arse,although my licence will say different ::)would prefer the car to handle properly,I guess what I'm trying to bottom out, is the police spec car rear end beefed up i.e to carry all their equipment etc with heavy duty springs, and if so how much difference to the handling would standard springs make to the car. :-\

Many Plods have heavy duty springs.
I would say, to make Omegas really handle without sacificing ride, Irmscher springs are the way to go, although the 30mm less clearance is noticible :-[

I have only ever used GM, Irmscher and Bilstein B4 on my Omegas. All are traditional shocks

Need the car to handle properly but not to the point of being bone jarring,so like I say it's only part of a plan and could wait for a few of months, perhaps until a meet where I could take a look at one or two cars that may have done something similar :-\

Depends what you want compared to how it handles now, with springs you have.
Why do you want to change the rear springs? ?...what is it about the rear end that makes want to change them?
Too hard? Too high? Too soft maybe? Would loading the boot help?

Possibly one of the springs is either weak or broken,as looking at the car from the rear it's listing a bit to one side :-\

Shock absorber can cause similar, but more intermittent if shock

It could also be like mine when Daz changed them the left one was shorter than the other. :o

The original police spec spring has its own oart no which you can get from andy c.These spring deliver a rear ride height of 27.5 inches from the ground to wheel arch lip.
All after mkt hd springs will give you a higher rear ride height which looks bad and ruins the handling.
I have always replace police spec with the standard omega spring from BOGE and this retains std ride height and is prettymuch as firm as the GM oe spring.

Thanks all for the info,I will certainly bear that in mind when I get around to dealing with the problem, got wishbones/track rods/drop links and steering idlers to do on two others first...starting Tuesday,glad the weathers improved :y

I have had Irmcher springs and for me they are to hard.. Steinmetz springs are firm but more forgiving if that makes sense.
I will be buying some this year for my own car :y

But Vader handled like an Omega should :y. Irmscher sprung, Bilstein B4 shocked, and SP9000 tyres IIRC. Heaven. I loved driving that car :y

Regretably I did'nt get to drive it,but rode in it and have to agree it was very well sorted :y perhaps this is the bench mark to aim for :-\

Agreed, may well just take the BOGE option suggested by jb as he seems to have a tried and simple answer,the only other thing I'll do is replace the shocks,possibly gas/uprated as it would be rude not to ::)
