Found it walking along my wall. It moves just like a Wasp, but is smaller, has two long antenna/feelers on it's head, has just two wings & is long & slender. I've tried a search, but found nothing.
Sorry about the blurred pic, if you need another i try, but he's a fiesty bugger & quick too

umm .....no,does it sound polish ? ;D

Not sure, but it looks to be a male wood wasp

That thing looks evil close up. I hope you did the decent thing and swatted it.

I thought Wood Wasp too, because i found some pics of them.
Under closer inspection it doesn't have the same markings.
It has black markings on the end of it tail & a yellow spot. It also has a yellow spot on it thorax at the top of its wings. Its also about 15mm long from head to the end of its tail.
It doesn't appear to have a sting, because when agitated no sting appears. I think it's one that has a bark worse than its bite, though i'm not going to poke it to find out :D
I've never seen one before & as a kid i had quite a fasination with insects. We've started to get alot of European varieties over the past few years, so maybe it's from abroad :exclamation :exclamation
