...the omega is. :y
Blast down south and back today, sun out, sun roof open, Bose blaring from me phone, tomtom fading in and out with directions, lpg running beautifully, grunty smooth quick v6 motor, riding the bumps well, accurate precise handling (mostly :-X ) on bumpy twisty roads was a joy.
Don't want to sound soppy, but there's a lot of people here that have made big inroads into improving the thing as I want it. Thanks to OOF members I'm really pleased with it. 8) :y

Good to see you enjoy Chris :y
forget about about tramlining ;D

In contrast...
Bloody thing kept stalling until warmed up, I needed both lanes of the A43 to tramline into, never managed to exceed 45mph, and the rattle from the door pins was driving me insane >:(
And stupid bloody gayphone voice dialling. Its hopeless. Marginally more accurate if speaking with an american-chinese accent (in that it was at least getting family members), but next to useless. iOS 6.1 hasn't improved that. Come on Android, make a usable email client.
-
Sounds like you were in the superior facelift then Mr TB ::)

You have no idea how happy that makes me feel. ;D :P

Great old cruisers they are, still mightily impressed with my old 2.2 blasting to Austria and back. Saw plenty of dead cars along the way, far, far newer than mine. Bet they had a fraction of the miles to, cruise on, tunes on, comfy and they just eat up the miles.
I still much prefer my 2.2 though, yet to really enjoy the 3.2. Even though, I'll admit, its the better car.

Nothing superior about a facelift. My 195k prefacelift just works. And doesn't rattle. gayPhone is every bit as shit in that though...

Good to hear - :y :y
Thanks Radar, and Tunnie. Some.... pleasant posts at last. :y

What? In a field? ;)

Went to WIM today as you know and although most will see it as a waste of money, I did enjoy the blast on the motorway and the windy country lanes. Car now drives beautifully for an Elite, new wishbones, poly rears, setup, OE pads, quiet exhaust, good tyres and it feels planted at speed and safe. I can now say the car is in top condition and is in need for nothing (at this moment in time, long may it last ;D). Its just about to clock 50,000 miles and everything works, cabin is surprisingly quiet for an Omega - a few weeks ago there were annoying rattles and squeaks which have now been sorted (although one rattle in the driver doorcard has just appeared but not too bad). :y
Just remembered it squealed like a pig when stopping from reverse so not that perfect ;D

This guy did the lpg wiring, diagnosed a fault, several mapping sessions. Fixed the power sounder. Gave me his spare Alternator. Swapped wheels to diagnose a tramlining fault.
...to name a few.
:y

This guy sent me some plenum Capps. :y

This guy tech 2'd it numerous times. Fitted a mixer to allow the ncdc2015 to work along side the blu tooth hands free, and fitted the MP3 player (that I asked him to fix, but he bought me a new one) and wired it in to the car.
To name a few. :y

This guy, hand built a custom wiring loom to allow the telematics to be fitted in the boot, so am ac glove box mod could be fitted.

This guy organised some excellent locations to allow me to service the auto box, fit poly bushes, and various other service jobs done.

Have you suddenly gotten in touch with your feminine side tonight? ::) ;D

Lazydocker, lpg set up and advice, sourced the kit,( twice.) :-*
2woody, changed the steering box to sort the steering. Sorted dif's of various spec.
Mark dtm, sent Mrs Dtm up to the Auto factors to get me some wheel bearings.
JoshWyatt, sourced the car at auction to order after months of searching for me.
Tony at Wim, set up.
Robseymv6 for the Irmscher stuff.
Daz Daft pink, advising Bilstein b4, and numerous offers of help not taken up.
Sp3.2 for springs and finding FK automotive grill.
Entwood for lpg at Newent.
Taxi Al, finding monaro poly donuts.
And all you lot that have helped with advice over the years. Couldn't have done it without you.
It's finally finished. (Well almost ;) )
Thanks
Chris. :) :y
-
Chris .. perhaps the thread title should really be
"what an awesome forum" :)
Without doubt everyone tries to help, and that beautiful beast of yours (only slightly less nice than mine :) ) is very nearly as you want it .. :)
Lots of hard work is paying off :)
Well done

The members of this forum, who have only really got to know each other because of OOF and their common interest in Omega's, are responsible for keeping so many of these cars on the road and in good health :y
Mind you, there's plenty of breakers on the forum so it probably balances out! ;D

...and Serek.
That's for the other car, mv8 sounds better than v8 elite.
....if it happens. Engine bay is empty, no steering box. I suppose I could be pro active and move the abs pump to the empty battery tray. Loom looks a bit short. :(
In a TB style "...did I ever mention, I hate electrics. ::) I really hate electrics. "

seriously an athmospheric v8 have no chance against a forged turbo 6.. Although forged 6 can be bought cheaply (relatively), forged v8 will be costly.. if you dont plan to build a sunday picnic car :)

Your wrong. Your always wrong. If cem says one thing, the opposite will be correct. So v8 it is. End of. You want a straight 6, off you go and get one. :)

Yes true, but then, I would have to spend at least 15k to buy a more desirable car than the one I have. IMO of course. :)
Someone I know, never spensd a bean on cars, just buys another one when it's breaked. A rough adding up at the bar suggests we're about level on costs. But I have to do alot more work. But I get the car I want and that I'm happy with, instead of a series of sheds.
Plus I got a load of cash back thanks to a blonde bint In a Range rover. ::)

Having driven a fair few powerful jap turbod straight 6 cars, including that mental modified Lexus that Terry the chip man had, I'd go down the GM V8 route myself.
More effortless drive for when you don't want to act like a Saxo driver, and far less tempremental.
Yes, the turbo'd Toyatas are fun when they spool, but without big money, just can't produce any power.
The GM LS series, fairly trivial (in the scheme of things) to get up to approaching 600bhp, without speading crazy money. And I was looking at one the other day that was over 1000bhp

I'd stick the SC5s on it, and wear the little tinkers out, just so I could have something decent ;D
