Title: Corsa B drums and shoes

Bought some new ones from BPB, fitted them and am getting vibration at the peddle and the drums do not turn freely.
This is after correct adjustments have been made. Could the drum be out of true or am I missing something?

It could be, but unlikely unless you went ballistic with sammy trying to get them off ???

Cavalier drums are a little "soft" for giving a good beating to :-[ ::)

I haven't hit them at all. They are new and slid straight on. Just vibrating through the peddle.....
Just discovered the hand brake pulsates and makes a drumming sound when applied gently whilst moving...

Are they secured with a grub screw or the wheel bearing (like Fords)?

Can't think of many reasons for those symptoms, other than mis-shaped drums, TBH :-\ I assume you centralised the shoes correctly before final adjustment?

Agreed.It only needs to be held a bit too tight in the jaws of the machine while the surface is being machined,and it will be ovalled once the pressure is released.Had it myself many years ago.
Need to messure them with a micrometer at various points to determine if its one or both of them.

Thanks guys. Looks like I will have to get them swapped by BPB.

This Corsa is more grief than my Omega  ;D

Indeed. Apart from the grinding, they worked perfectly before.

? do the pistons in the wheel cylinder move freely when pushed with a screwdriver/ brake shoe?

Could be a brake cylinder sticking or damaged when you took the old drums off

What was wrong with the old drums, cant say I have ever had a need to replace a drum.

Only drums I've ever had to replace were after I'd gotten a bit carried away on them :-[

They were very scored for some reason and grinding when applying the brakes....
