Title: Seen this MV6
Post by: OmegaAnglesey on 12 February 2013, 16:51:43
Was just checking AutoTrader for any new 3.2s and have noticed this one has been there awhile I can only guess why (its price) just under £3,000  :o and it doesn't even have its original radio, and high milage for price and only a Y plate.
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201301204987374/sort/default/usedcars/engine-size-cars/3l_to_3-9l/model/omega/make/vauxhall/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/radius/1501/postcode/ll669aa/page/1?logcode=p
Does anyone else think this one is over priced...

3.2's are rare these days, and mv6 rarer still.

But even so, it's needs to have about 60k on the clock for that price tag. :(
Title: Re: Seen this MV6
Post by: 05omegav6 on 12 February 2013, 17:55:56
So you're shopping for the best you can afford, rather than buying the best :-\

If it's something specific that you want, then surely you ought perhaps buy it at any (reasonable) cost.

My current Omega cost me twice what it should have, but it was THE car that I wanted :y I'm sure others will say the same :-\

Fair enough, if you have seen and driven that car and it is a pile of poo, then say so. But to write it of on cost grounds alone seems shortsighted  :y

It's not even original. All the boot badges have also been removed, it looks as if some kind of boy racer owned it before.

There was a very nice "51" 3.2 Elite saloon in silver on AutoTrader £1,995 but by the time I called there was some one on their way and bought it, and was willing to take my 2.2 in PX with £500  >:(

Bit dear but someone will buy it :y  It's a rare car-if it doesnt rust away or get trashed will be worth a lot more in years to come IMO  :y

looks original but I prefere the Saloons and don't fancy one with LPG I've seen more cars with LPG listed as spares or repairs, But I'm sure if you get one professionally fitted and maintained its good but the thought of the tank in the boot it's like carring around a bomb lol and all the mess under the bonnet is just not worth it for me imo.

Gave another call but its hard to talk to someone who doesn't speak very good English must be a foreigner of some sorts with a name like Jakub Tomczyk, But i managed to get a bit more info and apparently when he says engine rebuild he means two headgascets have been replaced that's all and the belts werent even changed and all this was done in December 2012 so why would he be selling it so soon if it didn't have problems. Not worth the miles for me to risk. The last 3.2 i went to see was is Derby a black "52" elite and he was Polish engine knakered by the sounds of itand the body work full of key scratches dents paint flaking off etc.

The Vectra 2.8 is an ok car, either in the VXR form, Elite or police spec. Personally, I'd probably want a low miles police spec hatch manual. All the power, with a manual gearbox, but without all the horrible VXR stuff. There's a good '56' plate one with 40k miles going through BCA Birmingham in 2 days.
But, do watch out for the VED rate, the majority fall into the £475 per year, £261.75 for 6 months

I wouldn't want most "Professional" installations I've seen ;)

LPG is no more dangerous than petrol, probably safer in reality... The tanks are considerably stronger and have lots of safety features :y

mmm LPG WITH UNDERFLOOR TANK

Not sure how that would work TBH, I'd be making sure it is on the LPG Register already, and what size tank it has ...

LPG in an estate WILL have an underfloor tank, there's nowhere else to put it, sensibly.

Estate equals limited tank size and range. Probably about 170 miles ish.

Unless your Lazydocker, and fit a deeper tank giving 230 odd miles range, then raise the floor to match.;)

It was/is, IMHO, the only sensible option. Fitting a cylinder in estate just defeats the object of having an estate IMHO :y

No argument at all .. but the question still remains .. the car being discussed is a SALOON ... just where do you out an "underfloor" tank and what size could it be ?? - ON A SALOON !!!

Would still struggle to get sufficient ground clearance unless a skid plate was fitted too ;) Even Zafira's are borderline with under slung tanks according to COP 11 ;)
