Title: 2.2 Elite DTI S/L Rear Shock
Post by: tomh23 on 12 February 2013, 20:42:57
My rear tyre ive just found to be shot, jacked up the car and thought wheel isnt coming off the ground as it should.  Eventually it did and it looks like the rear shock is shot  :( Infact im pretty sure it should not come all the way out as it has lol.

Anyways my question to you guys is,

Do I have to replace with a S/L one ?
Are the Estate and Saloon the Same ?
Would it affect the car if i replaced with non S/L ones ?

Thanks :)

Saloon and estate are different, you can fit standard shocks but would need the matching springs,if you go that route don't forget to disable the compressor :y

If you were closer I could've got them on TC for you avoiding postal charges ....... though they'd still work out to be quite reasonable compared to full retail price.  :y :y

Not sure, & I can never remember the password to get to TC's website. I do remember that TC price is a substantial saving on retail price though.

Self Levelling (Air) rear shocks for Facelift Elite saloons are identical across the engine range in my experience.

SL shocks are the same between all ages, as long as the come from same shape.

Ie, Pre-FL and FL Saloon SL shocks are the same, but they are different to Estate  :y

There are only two types of gm self levelling shocks.

Estate and saloon.

Age of the vehicle, pre face lift or face lift is therefor not relevant to these. :)

Only fitted to Elite spec for customer cars, and some plod.

Dont have any more currently unfortunately. You were lucky tbh Kevin. Its not often to find a pair in decent condition on a breaker.
I suspect those ones werent as old as the car, although I dont have paperwork to back it up. :y
