Title: diff query?
Post by: symes on 16 February 2013, 09:38:48
I got 2000 elite 2'5 v6 Auto Estate and wondered if 94 2'5 v6 manual diff would fit?
or would it be waste of time? :y

It will fit, but the manual/auto ratios are different I think

Quick research suggests 3.7 for manual, 3.9 for Auto, with a longer top gear on autos

It will do a little but will also blunt the performance too.

Ive driven a 3.0 Manual with a 3.0 Auto diff on it, cruise at 70 goes from the normal 2600 to 3000 RPM, so guessing the other way around you should see the 3.0 Auto go from 2600 to around 2200/2300 RPM at the same speed.

No idea how it would drive through the gears though, never played with the 2.5 are they the same gear / diff ratios as 3.0?.

R25 / R28 boxes have the same ratio's iirc
The R25 has forged cogs, the R28 has milled cogs hence they are stronger  :)
Only the R30 has different ratio's I believe (5th is longer)
