Title: killed miggy !!!

Yep gone and done it in :'(  got one mother of an oil leak all down side of engine up behind starter motor :o
So I think its terminal :'( oh well At least she got me home before letting go-

she starts up runs sweet as a nut but underneath am pouring oil- Haven't kept it running-dont want to  make matters worse
********* v6 always said they are rubbish :y over complicated for what it is-old Carlton straight six-work of art  :y

Sort it out mate - with a few thousand more miles you could then stand a chance of owning the highest mileage Omega on OOf :) :) ::) ;)

no mate (purple saloon havin buick from rover+classic insurance too) just had thought-I got spare 2.5 boat anchor v6 in purple mig- hmm got brain wave-swop lumps-that must be easiest solution-however will take a look in daylight- Mate hope its head gasket--new one on me that one  ???

sorry to hear this symes... any way of detectin where its sprouting from before sending to car grave?

are you guys still on for tomorrow. as i said to steve i got this horrid renault to service in't morning so will try and make it. if not ill be at next one  :y

mate you got no chance of me gettin rid of miggy-she's just a bit sick at moment-will look in morning to see how poorly she is-
am a bit ******* off with her problem at moment mate TBH-But will sort her out--you could bet on it mate :y

Sounds like half moons on cam cover - have you changed them recently?

Yes, and like others suggested in the other thread Symes, it could well be a badly fitted half moon in one, or both, of the cam cover gaskets.

I had the same when I didn't fit the one on the right hand (passenger side bank) properly due to the engine lifting bracket getting in the way.  Oil poured out and I was smoking so bad I had people asking me if my car was on fire! ::) ::) ::)

Worth checking Symes with a mirror and your fingers, and just feel if the half moons are really in place and firm. :y :y

if you meant scrap---NEVER happen--found problem-1 half moon and seal on oil cooler banjo bolt :o Fixed it 8) 8)

My A***   done  about 10 migs mate- Typical though isn't it-Still glad not someone else's miggy-What surprised me was seal on banjo bolt going south  :o Still at least bottom of miggy wont rust ;D ;D  covered in oil ;D

Was the oil cooler banjo bolt loose mate?  Seals on that are two solid copper washers one above and one below banjo - unlikely to leak if banjo bolt tight.
