I seem to recall after not long joining the OOF, there was some discusion on Omega's in Oz. If my memories correct, they where the same shape, but wider or longer. The police had a liking for them, because they ran V8's.
Though i'm sure a member with more knowledge than me will be along soon  :y

I believe that the South African market had V8 ford Sierras called XR8 and before that 3.0 Mk5 Cortinas called XR6. Someone correct me if I am wrong. :-/

The Commodore Omega is at the cheaper end of the range but can be bought for less than £14k (at todays exchange rate) Standard motor is 3.6 V6 ecotec and although basic does have.....

ABS Brakes
- Adjustable tilt & telescopic steering column
- Automatic
- CD Player
- Cruise Control
- Dual Airbags
- Electrically Adjustable Side Mirrors
- Electrically adjusted drivers seat with lumbar support
- Electronic Brakeforce Distribution
- Multi-function Steering Wheel
- Power Steering
- Power Windows
- Remote Central Locking
- Traction Control
- Trip Computer
- Vehicle Immobiliser
- Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)

Pay a bit more and for less than £24,500 you can have a top spec V8 brand new (off ebay.com.au)

I would have one!!!
