I've seen a 2.6 Elite Saloon for sale it's got most of the bells and whistles leather, bose, etc, but not a boot spoiler which I found odd considering its an ELITE an all :-\ ...It got me thinking maybe it had been in some kind of accident In the past and was replaced with a standard boot maybe although I can't confirm this I haven't had a chance to see it in person yet. Any ideas ? Did the Elite Omega have the option not to have the spoiler ?
Thanks on advance.
:)

Not that I know, but a quick check that might show up a bump is to see if the numberplate on the rear has the same dealer or plate manufacturer markings as the front one :y
-
Here's a pic. Also the rear end looks rather high ???

Self Levelling is working then!

I see its got towing accesories on the back so may be the ride height is something to do with that, maybe somebody has taken the self levelling off and put uprated springs and shocks :-\ but can't see why they would do that unless the shocks took a dive and they decided it was a cheaper route. As for the spoiler take a look at the boot lid somewhere on it will be a build number, It normally has the date it was manufactured see if it tallies with the age of the car, that will give you an idea if it has been repaired

Who knows :-\, but surely every Elite when new came with one ?.. Apparently it was taken in PX, Something doesn't smell right with this Omega and its £1300 with 109,000 on the clock.

:o :o :o :o well over the top I only paid £450 for mine with 49,000 I know its a 3.2 but 2.6 shouldn't be much different

Unless at some point n its life it has been pushed to the side of the road and come off in their hands and not been bonded back on.

£450 is an exceptional price, for 49k miles. I'd be concerned that's been clocked at that price, around £1.3k is about right for garage/retail price for a 3.2
-
Any chance it's a 'fully loaded' CDX with new alloys ???

wouldnt one of the bods with the electronic list be able to help you if you give them the reg, i know my elite is registered as a 3.0 omega mv6 elite, and when andyc at drive looked into it it had virtually every concievable option on it even some he didnt know what they were

hijacking the thread is confusing the replies ::) there never was a 3.2 CDX :y ... I think Jonny was talking about the 2.6 Elite, Jonny I've checked the reg it is an Elite on the Reg check and apparently has had no accidents, not a Cat A,C,D etc :-\
-
Easy enough to check all the chassis numbers on the car with what is on the V5 :y
Chassis number is stamped in the floor pan between the drivers seat and the sill, remove the seat runner trim and lift the carpet around it just to be sure that it's the original metal work around the number. Checking from underneath won't necessarily reveal any evidence of foul play.
Sticker on the drivers b post also has it on.
Tag on the passenger side of the dashboard, read through the screen.
If the seller won't allow a hands on check by you, then they're hiding summat :-\
Btw, four Mots do not a mileage check make. Absolutely nothing to stop a car being clocked in the first three years of its life.
Note to TB/KW et al, does the ecu store mileage data?
-
Yes mate I meant the 2.6 as in OP. Very strange.
Of all the usual extras, the boot spoiler is probably the last one you'd expect to be missing ???
-
This is nothing I know but I've also noticed from an interior picture that the glovebox handle is missing presumably broken off at some point but for the life of me cant understand how that could happen. anyway if its like mine which I'd have thought it is so its key lockable so getting a used one in cream would be hard enough but it will not lock is annoying which isn't a big problem I rarely lock anything valuable in there, Just annoying.
Will try and check the car over I would only consider a 2.6 in mint condition or as close as can be expected as its not really what I'm after (3.2 Elite) but if its good if nothing else it's a level up from my 2.2 GLS. Shame it's star silver though, if i was to buy it would be my 4th silver mig :o really fancy dark blue, black or even grey. Although saying that Silver does keep the Omega looking fairly modern'ish.
If I remember correctly I remember seeing a 2.5 or 2.6 Elite on eBay several months ago without a boot spoiler also had everything else a Elite would be expected to have like but no boot spoiler (and no it's not the same one was a "51" if I remember correctly ;D)
-
Ive seen one or 2 glove box handles broken , normally when its been locked and some passenger thinks its still open , pulling on it till it snaps ::)
-
Was the spoiler 3.2 only :-\

Nah, standard on any Elite petrol or diesel as well as MV6/Sport spec

Because neither of those are easy to fake :-X ::)
You may have got a bargain and been lucky but just because one person manages it doesn't mean that's what a car is worth ;) Oherwise we'd all be using Roger Budden pricing for value :-X ::) ;)

DVLA has changed the certificates because they lost a whole load of the old ones, very easy to fake some those. All you need is a mate with a garage. As for stamps, well :-X
If it a genuine 49k miles, well done. :) But I'm highly sceptical to be honest, as anyone with half a brain who is selling that could see its worth triple that any day of the week :y
-
I remember a couple of late Omegas without a spoiler. IIRC Kevin Woods MV6 hasn't got one and also Vauxsull (Keith) his was missing one too

Kevin's is unusual too as its MV6 but with wood trim.
Kind fits the name though ;D
-
I've seen at least one where the original owner asked for spoiler to be removed. Its marked on Vauxhall's parts database as such.

Might explain why Prodrive had a cupboard full of spare ones ::)

I am pretty sure all is ok I know the seats could be changed but was owned by a retired gent and the seats look like new as does all the interior It also came with a shed load of service recipts. But what I didn't say was where I brought it ;) I got it from an auction and the oil cooler had gone so was put in as possible head gaskets so I bit the bullit and got it for the price put a genuine cooler in and it runs like a dream. :)
-
Ah so it was bought faulty, never said that ;)
Still good bargain, must have been run with no antifreeze to cause oil cooler to fail so quickly :o
-
The cars ecu does store the mileage so tech 2 will retreive that if needed. :y

thats not the point. Some of the replies where completely off topic and one or two where confusing whether or not they where a reply to the original post or not, anyways I should be going to see it this weekend and will update then. :)

Incorrect (for Omegas)
-
Well I am happy with it :) it hasn't missed a beat and can't even hear it running while idling. :y
-
I wouldn't worry about the spoiler to much. Vx have a habit of sometimes mixing and matching things around. I even phoned customer services about my current mig as it's on the V5 as a MV6. They told me it happened loads and I've got the original build sheet to prove it's a genuine Elite. I had a 92 Carlton Diplomat in 94 and that never had a spoiler yet a friends dad did and he brought his new. Once again VX confirmed my Dipy never had one fitted

Yeah i know what you mean Doz. and if its a good overall car i hope this is the case :y...If anyone can/would like to check through the registration number for me (if that's possible?) please PM me

Drop Jimbob a PM mate, and he'll be able to do a reg check for you. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the spoiler was omitted by the original buyer. :y
And I've got an Elite boot spoiler in Star Silver if you need one! ;D

Seen the car today and the spoiler is the least of the problems with it ::) it's staying where it is in Cheshire . Just got to drive 120miles back.

Just arrived home and the 2.2 went brilliantly crunching up the miles with ease... :y

2.2 will sit at 80mph alllllll day long, cruise on its great place to be. It makes less noise at 80 than my 3.2.....

and a tad orver that on private roads :y MPG wasn't bad either.
The 2.6 i saw today would have been a money pit.

Very true :y , And I have been trying to find a decent 3.2 which hasn't been abused too badly and isn't ridiculously priced.. Oh well looks like the hunt goes on...
For a "Personal" laugh i asked how much would you PX my Omega for his then he was talking a load of rubbish like I could pick one of these up at "Trade" he kept saying for around £200-£500 (which is true but it probably wouldn't be as good as mine and little does he know i paid £200 for it 3 years ago) but seen as yours is a very clean I'll take it in at £600.... And he is asking £1,295 for his with more miles on the clock with many things not working on the car.

I'd say that's fair enough, seen an immaculate 2003, 2.6 Elite with less than 75K Miles go through the auctions for less than £1K, It's now up for sale by a private seller for £1.9K. Ultimately he's in business to make money.

Aye I don't have a problem with that and would have taken the offer if the 2.6 was as good as he made it sound/look. A youngish lad around 30-37 I'd say lived next to a mental institute / old peoples home manure or something wasn't too clear wht he said the building is. Kept his cars for sale there which also sounded a bit odd. And I did check and it does genuinely look like it never had a spoiler the boot looked like the original.
-
And in the 270 or so miles I didn't see one Omega on the road.
-
Ah a shame its out of my budget. Shame about the bumper I'd have thought it would be hard to get a front bumper in that colour and something wrong with the satnav. But low'ish milage.

Could be a problem with the seat?!
If Sat Nav it will be the usual laser focusing problem on the Nav drive.
-
If I were you i'd spend money on LPG'ing your 2.2 instead, makes them dirt cheap to run. Easily an "effective" 50mpg :y
-
There's a 3.2 MV6 on LPG on evil bay at the moment. However, I think i'd sooner buy a car, get it running how I want it then LPG it myself with the help of people on here.

Never been keen on LPG tbh, I just miss the sound of a V6 and the toys. But i fear i may have become too attatched to sell the 2.2 now also and dont have room for 2 migs. :-[ The 3.2 V6 is all good but i must say theres just something about the 2.2 at times and puts a smile on ones face :) . Its just a Shame Vauxhall made too many Spec variants GLS, CD, SPORT, CDX, MV6, ELITE for an executive car imo SPORT, CDX, MV6, ELITE would have been an ample selection.

Yep I'd like to pay around £800-£1,200 for something like that but £2,500 and with its faults is a bit much... But as I've been told many times its only worth what someone is willing to pay to some that's dirt cheap and some think its bloody expensive I'm the latter ;D

Ah just got home from a 12 hour trip to see an Omega In South Wales some 400miles on awful roads and I only went as he sounded genuine and owned it 5 years and said its in perfect condition and running well (3.0 elite Y reg) and once I got there it looked (OK) but close up it looked like the rear two wings have been welded on and the front x2 doors welded, dabbed silver pain everywhere where they usually rust and after five muinits of starting it the engine management light came one (flickering) and there was a god awful smell coming from the rear exhaust never smelt anything like it. I was furious after the distance traveled but I was expecting something like this would happen as everyone so far more a less has been like this if not worse , and the interior was very well worn and grinded in dirt. £1,000 it is with around 138,000 on the clock with disabled tax so it would need tax also, reason for sale I was as wanted a BMW 5 series (2002 3.0 it was) hardely much newer as I always presume a car is always pretty much for sale for a reason which is not usually going to benifit the buyer. Well what can I say it's looking like a mission impossible to get a good 3.0/3.2 elite.
Sorry about the layout of this post I'm too knakered to correct its readability.
-
the rear two wings have been welded on and the front x2 doors welded,
:o
Bloody hell that was a wasted journey :( My old 3.0 elite sounded better than that ::) I would just sit it out and wait for something a bit nearer :)
