Title: Logbook, filled out?
Post by: Del Boy on 21 February 2013, 13:47:59
A friend of mine selling his car, anyway he was due to sell it after taking a deposit, filled out the logbook (idiot I know), and now his guy has pulled out. Anyway he's filled in the little green slip and the logbook itself, and has another guy supposedly coming to collect tomorrow. This isn't something I've come across before surprisingly, how does he get around that? Tipex, crossing out?

I used to fill in the new keeper supplement in pencil on my auction buys to get them taxed then rub it out again. I'm sure the new buyer would understand

That's what I said to him, just tell them the truth. Told him he is a bit of a doughnut to fill it out before he's got all the cash as well.

Just cross it out and fill in again... I've come across it (but can't remember why :-\), probably on a car I was buying, and be honest :y

Yep, had it before...tipp-ex, and fill in the new details. There's no issue there, mistakes can be made  :y

Best thing to do is to make 2 copies of the prefilled one, then tippex out and add new keeper then make another 2 copies, both parties keep a copy of each, before sending off, that way if DVLA start to ask questions (which they probably wont) both parties can prove it was a miss sell mistake.

The Omega I bought a couple of months back had a tippexed area on the original logbook. This was filled over with my details by the garage, and sent off by themselves. I received my log book through with no problems.  :y
