Something to be aware of when you come to get your state pension. All contributions made in other EU countries should count in the end calculations. Plenty of info on the net.
Might not seem important now but as Tesco says every little helps, particularly as the UK requirement for a full pension is changing from 30 years to 35 if the current legislation gets through.

UK has reciprocal arrangements with all of the 1973 EC countries.
NI Contributions are importable/exportable between member states. Not sure about newer countries

Indeed. That was my reason for posting.
There was a landmark case in Spain where a woman had had her five years in Portugal discounted. Thge European court overturned that. Having seen how buearacracy works here it doesn't surprise me that they don't know the law and the rules. Details of that case here. http://elpais.com/elpais/2013/02/21/inenglish/1361457536_407751.html
A good starting point for eligibility is here :
http://ec.europa.eu/social/main.jsp?catId=860&langId=en on the EC website. Much as I dislike the EU , I have to say that their websites are very good. If you are likely to be affected in years to come , bookmark the site! :y

Not that difficult, did it for a claimant in 1985 who had worked in W Germany, got made redundant and moved back to the UK.
Made her UB about the same as my salary..........
The thing that helped was getting Newcastle involved as soon as the details are received. It was so rare they were very quick.
Whether DWP could do it now without maximum fuss and bother I've no idea!
